Bypassing stock amps

Can you just remove the stock amps to bypass them so that you can install a new deck?

Or do you have to splice and switch the wires around?

depends, some apms yes, most no. but these days there are several manufacturers that make adapters for some applications. you can either hook aftermarket HU to factory amps or bypass the amp all together. either way you can always install your own amp and replace the speakers along with a new head unit.
