Passed one of these cars coming down the mountain yesterday, from the rear that is a sweet looking car, I didnt have but a few sec to check it out untill I passed
.
I want to see the interior for sure, I may go check it out.
Mitsubishi stopped sales of the new 2006 Eclipse (http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=Eclipse&submit=Search+%BB) because of a problem with the vacuum brake booster could cause brake failure.
Hope they made it down ok :-)

I must admit, after seeing the commercial, it does look pretty nice on the outside. Hopefully the interior is decent.

If mitsu is worried about going under, they better stop making every single one of their cars FUGLY AS HELL! They're worse than subaru, which is hard to do, but Subaru will be right back up there with their Tribeca and WRX soon what with their Alfa Romeo grills.
"...The B9 Tribeca, what every SUV should be." - What, FUGLY? No Thanks!
I also saw one on my way down to bandi wends. it looked pretty badass but I don't like the front of the car. Looks kinda like an intrepid front end.

I hate the things, ugly as home-made sin. Not quite as bad as the 06 STi, however.

I like them... But don't think I'm ever buying a Mitsu car again.

Hooray for Honda quality!
I'll stick to cars that can make well over 500AWHP on stock internals.

what is up with that ugly flared fender tho...
It looked good from the back, after seeing the front, omg thats a ugly car
Its like you notice a nice female ass your like hey she looks good, then you see the front and her tits hang to the floor and she is missing a few front teeth, sorry for painting a bad visual in your head :-)

did you guys see the 06 eclipse at the denver auto show? i didn't like it then but i think i'm coming around. the car is heavy as hell, i heard around 3,600lbs... definately not as ugly as the b9 tribeca front end + sti model for 06 tho...

thats cause its a fuckin porker, like nycz32 said 3600 lbs. at that weight for an FF with only a 4 or 6 cyl, how exactly is anyone supposed to still consider it a sports car? so the GT has 60 more HP and 400 less lbs than my mom's Mercury Sable wagon.....impressive...

The 3.8L V6 MTX gets 18/27 MPG city/highway, the ATX 19/28. The 2.4L engine MTX gets 23/30, the ATX 23/29. And the only one of these worth having would be the manual GT, which weighs 3472 pounds, not 3600. Sill on the heavy side for what it is, no arguing that, especially considering a 1G AWD DSM weighs 3200-3300. Source: http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMSA/jsp/eclipse/features_specs.jsp?t=all
And just to stir the pot, the weight/power of the MTX GT is considerably better than that of an 05 Civic Si. 13.2lb/hp versus the Si's 17.4

I like the new look, its aggressive and reminds me of the third best styled mistu the 2nd gen eclipse (behind the 99-02 VR4 and the 87-89 Starion ESi-R), but I hate the weight, the FWD and the lack of a 4G63 in the nose. It's better than a 3rd gen but still the wrong direction for anything to be named an eclipse to be heading.

99-02 VR-4? ;)
In my opinion the best of Mitsu comes out when you blend a 94-96 VR-4 with a 99 and end up with this:

Weren't they produced in Japan till 02? I know they didn't make it across the pond after 99. And yes, that is the front end I like the best, and the bigass wing in the back. And that car is the VR4 I want to emulate if I ever own one. Sexay.

Hmmm... you may be right. You're right they stopped here after 99, after 96 or 97 sales really dropped. Only 287 99 VR-4's imported to North America.
I'm not really a big fan of the 99 ricer wing (and especially not the Eclipse hoop they started putting on it in 97, totally doesn't fit the car), the 91-96 wing is fucking sweet; flows really well with the car AND it flips up at 50MPH and goes back down at 30. There's a manual over-ride switch so you can wave at people, so much fucking fun :D

Actually, I'd take either a 90-93 Stealth bone stock or a 96 VR4 converted to look like a 99. Those were the sexiest of the 3Si cars. Espeically the Stealth, the roofline following the rear hatch looked so much better than the C pillar following the sail window.

91-93 ;)
Unless you've got a bunch of money in your pocket, 94-95 are the best years. You get the best of the mechanical parts, as well as OBDI/II, the OBDII cars (96+) can't log knock, so tuning becomes a bit harder (though you shouldn't rely fully on the knock counts reported by the ECU anyway). The OBDI/II has full 1G logging abilities (same as 1G DSM's) but comes with all the second gen goodness in the rest of the car. In 96 they also dropped the electronic/active suspension. 94-95's looks the same other than the sunroof, they're just a bit easier to work with and nicer in stock form.
And don't tell anyone, but I am not a fan of Stealths. The 96 Stealths have a better rear wing (still a boomerang/banana thing, but improved). I don't like the roof line of Stealths, the car pictured above doesn't have the 99 "sail panels" behind the windows, so the roof line is more abrupt in the back. There are severeal other things I don't like about Stealths, but underneath they're pretty much the same, though 2G Stealths don't have 4WS and I beleive they also dropped the button that toggles the exhaust between loud and quiet (I'm serious, I do in fact have a button for that). So it's really a matter of personal preference :)
I can't find a picture that illustrates the difference well, you really need ot see them side by side in person, it looks a hell of a lot better than the 91-98 sail panels:

EDIT: And 3Si is a website, not a car. And for anyone not aware, it is not a DSM.

That's the big thing I like about the Stealth is the ability to get a 3S without the techno trickery that I really don't want. While the active aero and the selective shocks and the muffler sound button are neat, I'd probably get rid of them anyways. I like my shocks stiff, my exhaust loud enough to hear and the active aero if I remember right didn't help aero or downforce anyways, though waving it would be kinda fun when you're outrunning someone. Either way, I really like the look of em all and wouldn't turn any year down though I'd prefer a later car for the 6 speed's added reliability.

Yeah, my exhaust button is now useles,s and the active suspension is soon to be gone as well. But of course not everyone can afford to replace them, so if you're looking for one to leave stock or mod lightly, you get the best bang for the buck from those years.
And the Active Aero does help. A lot. at 120MPH the net vertical aerodynamic force is zero. No lift and no downforce. In contrast, with the wing down and air dam up, there is lift all around. These cars are REALLY stable at high speeds, you wouldn't beleive it until you feel it. 130 feels like 30

Is that a 4x4? why does it ride so high? 1/3 of the 18" rims + tire is like 8" off the ground...
You can buy a 7" drop kit for it? hehehe
what's up with all the body lines? looks like they just took a bunch of left over pieces and put em together.
I do like the sun top, and whats up with the side pimp windows? function or pimp?

Mitsu's totally lost it :(
Though there are rumors of an Eclipse VR-4, I don't think I would want to see it happen. Then people would see my VR-4 badge and think I took it off an eclipse

oh good God that ^^^ looks good. I sometimes wish my priorities were different.
I saw a new Eclipse today. I think the front looks a little unfinished, and the clear tail lights need to go.
