My room is too far away from our router to get a good wifi signal. Is there a way to hook up a wireless router in my room and have it connect to the other router?

they have booster antannee's for wireless routers, have you looked into that?

Yes, a booster might help. A better choice would be to wire a wireless access point to a location where your wireless device can have good signal strength.

yeah, just connect your WAP to the other network via cat5.

Yes -- you can use a WAP as a repeater, however, stringing Cat5 under the carpet would be a cheaper solution.

Has anyone had reliable luck with wireless? Man I was using it at my dad's house... holy shit. Talk about being flaky. I've never really seen a wireless setup that was pretty stable... I been kinda disappointed with the technology. It couldn't hold a connection very long before I had to physically go and reset the router. This happened with a couple different routers too.

So needless to say I am a pretty biased person... just wire it. ;)

Mario, try playing wih the configuration options more....

I had the same type of problem and I ended up tinkering with the channels and now that I changed the channel for the 4th time, my wireless connectivity has been ROCK SOLID thru my linksys set at G band w/ 54mb static speed setting.

Is your XP patched? When you let Windows configure your wireless network settings, you're bound to run into connection issues, sometimes regardless of the WAP or settings. Third party software works much better. I've been using wireless for 4 years reliably.
