grocery getter vs. ford focus (slow story)

this is not a kill, just a story about slow street racing, boring - you've been warned ;)

so apparently most of my fun i have whenever i take a night ride to the "nearest" Safeway. and my route usually goes anywhere from 120th & Colo to 104th & Federal. yeah, plenty of routes and plenty of space to play. and i literally go to get some groceries! (Hi, Steve_C! ;) )

tonight happened to ride along a ford focus hatch zc5 (i think) with Ford stickers all the way and this calvin sticker peeing on "jap chap". so i thought some play would be appropriate. first he never lost me when accelerating in file from a light. then several launches from a roll, and i must say he would be a bit quicker when launching from 2nd gear, but not drammatically so. and then i would refuse to go faster than 80 in 45 mph zone (you know, i have my reasons ;)

anyway, looked up specs on this car, and it's like 135hp with 2,699 pounds curb weight. my accord is 160hp and 3200 pounds. so it's not like a big fucking achievement :) i also at first suspected some forced induction in place, as he didn't sound exactly stock, but i'm not sure. just curious, anyone seen this guy in north metro? color is light-brown/goldish.

there's like a dozen liquor stores within 5 minutes of where dima lives, not to mention 2 grocery stores off 120th and colorado, and an albertsons off 120th and washington

told you, i'm doing groceries as an excuse to have a fun ride sometimes ;) brought it in to justify the fact that i own a grocery getter!
