Steve and I were reading I believe it was Car and Driver last night. In there they had a review of the Focus SVT, 1.8t gti, and the New civic SI. By the way the Focus came in first and the GTI in last. Kind of the opposite of what I expected.
Anyhow they mentioned in the article that Honda of America has agreed to bring over the Civic Type R in 2004 as a civic SIR in the states. It will have 197 hp ,8000 rpm redline, ect ect. If this is true my car will be paid off by then and I think I may have something parking next to it in the garage :)

Oh,you beat me to it. I just read that this morning.
I also saw an ad for the Honda Odessey. When did they put 240hp in one?
Shame on Honda for giving an Si only 160hp,hell,for that matter why didn't they give the Type R 240hp?
It's a Communist plot. Hmmmmm........:D
I know it's not a Honda but did you see the turbocharged Neon in there? 215hp for around $20k.

I missed the neon, i'll have to go read that again.
I can still say that I am very happy I got the SI that I did, and not the new one. It's a dog, I don't even know why it's called an Si. It is at the performance level of an EX. Oh well.
I saw an Odssey up at Tobi's shop in denver when I had my diff done. I was pretty shocked to see a 3.5 liter VTEC engine under the hood. I wonder what that will swap into? I'm sure it could take 8-10 psi of boost. Man 350 hp at 10 psi on a 3.5 liter VTEC motor.............that would be sweet.

I think that the Odyssey uses a C35 which is loosely based on the NSX motor. hmmmm I wonder if the NSX motor would go into an odyssey??? I know that the whole configuration thing of rear drive vs front drive etc. But man that would be cool! Or to take the heads from an NSX and put them on an Odyssey.... wonder if the tranny would hold.

htey just revised the Accord engine for the odyssey in 2002. It is basically an Accord 3.5 VTEC with taller intake runners and reshaped exhaust. Its got a new 5speed auto trans with better gearing. i love to drive them they can pull pretty hard. Im sure the NSX engine would go in easily, but why? I would like to get my hands on one of these van motors to squeeze into the rear of a crx or somehting.

those Focus SVT's look like a nice deal. Certainly not much in the way of horsepower (my STS has damn near twice as much) but the fact it weighs over 1000 lbs. less would make up for most of that :)
Plus I've always wanted a hatchback...

Yeah the focus SVT's are nice, but even the magazine article that reviewed them said you would be hard pressed to get much more out of them without forced inductionn as that engine was pretty anemic to start with..........Personally if you want a good hatchback right now the GTI 1.8t is the way to go. Or you could buy a used civic hatch and swap/boost it...then you will have a "sweet ride":)
