Best way to remove window tint?

Any suggestions? Also for the rear windshield? Will it pull off my defroster?

Use lots of warm-hot water.

they sell some fluid to remove tint, but you still have to scratch it off pretty much, this fluid only helps dissolve the glue layer. and just work very carefuly around defroster

Heat it up for like half an hour. Leave the car running in the sun with heat and defrost blasted. Peel it slow and heat with a heat gun as necessary. Let me know if you need some help pete.

Also is you use steel wool i think it is , and very LIGHTLY rub the back it will get a good amount of the glue off.

For the side windows just get it really hot and hit it with some razor blades.

If you are gonna get it retinted I would suggest you stay away from steel wool. It works great, but leaves a hell of a lot of particles that get stuck in the new tint because it's so hard to get all of the wool gone.

get amonia and put it in a spray bottle

get black trash bag cut to size of the window in question, apply alot ofamonia and pu trash bag on the amonia, on the inside of the window on the tint. let sit for about 10 min.

make sure not to breath the amonia it is pretty harsh.

and keep applying the amonia till the tint peels it takes about 4-5 coats.

also make sure to park in the sun thus the black trash bag, it will hold the heat

and the tint will start falling off, also make sure to keep amonia off interior panels. (use a towel)

this works very well.

Don't use a razor blade on the back window, unless you want a rear window without defrosters.

Thanks for the help guys I will let you know how it goes, from the break in i have one window that isn't tinted and its kinda bothering me, I figured I would pull it off till I could swing new tint. Thanks again! :cheers:

Why not just tint the untinted one lol? Or is the rest of it all faded and purple?

uh, its kinda a "performance tint" as put when I bought it back in the day when I got my civic, and its kinda silverish/reflective if you will, I just want black now. I think that will look a little better.
