Hey Tobi, this is Rick, you installed a JRSC in my 2001 Prelude not that long ago. I have since moved to NC and can't find a decent shop to help me with my issue. So, I thought I might just as well go back to the source. Since the install of the JRSC and the Kamikaze headers I have blown the gasket connecting the headers to the down pipe, its the triangluar copper gasket held on by three bolts. I have replaced the gasket however, the bolts keep coming loose and I can feel exhaust coming out from that area. If I don't tighten them every week or so I am sure I will have the same problem with blowing it. Any suggestions? I was thinking of getting that specific joint welded. The only disadvantage I can see is if I wanted to un-install the headers. What would you suggest I do?

Have you tried any high temp thread locking compound?

I haven't tried any of those. I will try and see what happens. Should I not get the part welded, to prevent further occurances. I have a friend that does that for a living so it would be cheap...

I would not weld it, if you ever had to take it off you will have to cut the header off and toss it if you ever have to pull it for any reason. Use either star washer locking nuts or pinch locking nuts.

I used star washers and loc-tite and tightened the hell out of mine. I didn't have any problems with it.

Thanks all for the help. I went ahead and put some thread lock on it today so we'll see what hapens. I will probably go out and get some locking nuts tomrrow just in case.

I had the same problem wih my downpipe bolts. I torqued them, then ran the car to get them warm, then torqued them again while it was hot. I have had no problems since then...

It's a HEADER, you don't have headers.
