Anyone use this?
A new server I just got uses this but I've found it seems to be more of a pain in the ass then just doing everything from the shell.
Everyone else seems to love it though (maybe i just need to play with it more).
Are there any other easy to use web based management products out there?
The only reason I'm using this is a few people were going to host their sites on the server but they are not computer people and need an easy way to add e-mail accounts and subdomains and what not.
I'm thinking about just re-installing from scratch but I need a control panel for outsiders to use first. Any suggestions would be great...

As far as I've seen, it's great for the virtual server market and allowing their end users to manage their basic stuff. I'd stick with Plesk because you can do virtual servers with it....

EDIT: but better yet, RTFM: http://www.sw-soft.com/en/products/plesk75reloaded/docs/

I'd say Webmin, but that doesn't apply to virtual servers. When I used to work at a co-location datacenter all our linux servers ran Plesk, and the customers definately loved the heck out of it, but I never actually bothered with it. Dang, there was one other management system similar to Plesk that was also deployed but I can't remember the name. I'll post about it if I do. I'd say though man, just get the user guides for your Plesk version and tear it up....

yeah, i've been messing with it some more and i am starting to see it's advantages. before i never did the "virtual" host thing, i would just edit the apache files to point to to a "root" directory in /var/www/ and then just share everything else. just takes some getting used to i guess. at first i was kind of shocked to see each site's root directory with /usr and /etc and whatnot but i can totally see the plus side of doing it that way.

Cpanel owns Plesk IMO. I've used both and run cpanel on all my servers. Some things are better done in shell, but cpanel coupled with whm makes life simple.
