I just bought this 2005 WRX and it only has 1200 miles on it. I have noticed over the past few days that the stick is getting stuck sometimes. It feels like the synchro is getting stuck or something. Do you think this is still the car breaking in? Its not severe sticking, just not as smooth as I would think a new car should be... Any ideas?

Yea I agree... But just curious if the actual synchro's have a break in. I think if I take it in and they find nothing wrong, I have to pay...

No synchros don't have to break in...sticking can be caused by shift forks ...I think you should take it to the dealer and have them look at it. Don't worry about having to pay for anything...Warranty...also try changing to red line shock proof tranny fluid...sometimes it helps.

If the shifter is getting stuck, it may be little more than a dragging clutch, which could be anything from a manufacturing defect in the clutch disc, flywheel or pressure plate or simply some air in the hydraulic line or a misadjusted pedal.

But it's their job to figure it out and fix it :)

Hey Rich, congrats on the car bud. Do you have a factory short shifter. Shifting can be a bit less smooth with short shifter installed.

Yea I think he did mention that the 05's come with a short shifter. But I am not completely sure. I just dont want it to be something wrong with the clutch. But then again it could be me sucking at driving the clutch

With the factory short throw I have only heard of reverse being a mother to shift into or out of.

The trannies in the WRX are "notchy" That is just a characteristic of the car. Actually my 2.5 RS is the same way. It's a bitch trying to get into reverse sometimes, just like everyone else is saying.
