How is that tempting? Thieves have already been tempted. If they didnt steal this car, they would've gotten another.
That's fucken hilarious that the driver asks the other guys if they want to drive after the popo lit up the lights.

Explain how they are tempting them?
Are you saying that if by accident you leave your door unlocked and a bunch of cds on the seat then you wouldn't care if they got stolen because you tempted someone to do it? That is even a much more realistic scenario then someone "otherwise" might not have been stealing a car.
Police use undercover people to sell drugs, do you think the police are tempting people to buy drugs or do you think they were probably already going to buy drugs and just happened to pick the wrong seller?
If you think those baitcars are a bad idea I'm sure you'll have 98% of this board and any other auto related board disagreeing with you. I'd love to setup my own baitcar so I could get some of the Denver area car thiefs off the streets. Most likely it isn't a different kid everytime a car is stolen.
Something like this once or twice a month in high theft areas using a few different cars could really curb the amount of posts we see about stolen cars. Whether it gets them off the street or just for the sake of potentially being caught. ANY setup like this should be endorsed about 1000% by us unless we are the ones taking the cars.

It's not illegal, and will never be illegal. They are NOT tempting anyone to do anything. I know that you think that this is entrapment but it's not. Entrapment would be if they had a sign on the car that said, "Not a bait car," then it was. They should have a bait car sting every night in my opinion, maybe two.
How could you even say that they are tempting them? Those fucks were out looking for a car to steal, the cops didn't come get them out of bed and point the car out to them.

It wouldn't even be entrapment then. Police officers involved in sting operations can even lie and say that they aren't police. Entrapment is basically when a law enforcement officer causes a normally law obiding citizen to break the law. If you steal a car, buy drugs, street race, etc., that is a choice you are making to break the law, and you would still make the same choice in the same situation if the police weren't involved. "Tempting" you to do it doesn't mean shit, because if you do it then you are a criminal and should be treated as such. Entrapment is usually when you know it's a cop and make your choice based on that. For example, if an officer is directing traffic and tells you to go through a red light, it would be entrapment if you got a ticket for running that red light. The whole point of having undercover officers is so that they can pose as criminals or just non-police to catch people doing stuff they wouldn't do in front of a cop; entrapment doesn't apply unless they force you do to it.
How could you even say that they are tempting them? Those fucks were out looking for a car to steal, the cops didn't come get them out of bed and point the car out to them.
:werd: But even if they did, it wouldn't be entrapment unless the police led the criminals to believe that it would be ok for them to do that (ie not illegal, or at least no legal consequences).
