hey yall, this would be my first post and im not sure how many times youve been asked this question but basically....i have an automatic car, im probably going to buy a new car very soon, but im sure it will also be automatic. i have heard that if i was to try to turbo charge it i will get awesome gains, but it will take ALOT of work and green. However i was wondering wether i could go the route of supercharging it, and save that money, but im not sure if i would have to do much on that end either. really im just trying to help a daily driven car get a little more "oomph". Sorry for being such a newb, but i just thought i could get some friendly help on this.
thanx in advance,
D

It'll probably cost the same to do it either way, and turbocharging it shouldn't be any harder that supercharging it. What engine do you have?

Turbo it. Either one will cost about the same, but in the end you will likely get more out of the turbo setup.

its an f22 but the new one will be shit i forget but its a 02' 3.2tl type-s, not sure the number on that, i like it simply for its luxoriousness, i make long ass commutes, but anyway, turbocharging that car, a 5spd auto, i would have to spend about the same amount on it as a regular 4spd, and really if someone has done this i would really like to know how i could go about it and what all i would need, sorry but i have zero knowledge when it comes to turbo/SC+Auto

If you have zero knowledge, then you may want to buy a kit and pay a professional to install it. Here's a link to some F22 Accord kits:

I haven't seen a turbo kit for the TL V6, but Comptech makes a SC kit for it.

I don't think anyone even makes a kit for either turbo or supercharger for that car. Either way you won't like how much it will cost you. Also, Honda's automatic transmissions can't hold much power at all. Just a heads up.

Since it a V6 and there's probably not much room in the engine, I go Supercharge. I don't really know who make a turbo kit for that car, so to turbo it you will need a custom make manifold and it probably cost a bit much since it a V6 (more piping). But if you got the bread, it can be done. If you planning to go turbo ask Pang to make a manifold for you. He make some sick stuff.

with the 3.2 cl type s, your only cheap option will be the supercharger. turbo will definately mean a custom job, plus going with a manuel instead of an automatic. the tranny/torque converter will not last if you go more then 45 hp over the stock 260hp. comptech's sc is only likke 4-5 psi, and you will definately need to install a tranny cooler.

also if you get a cl, make sure you have the tranny checked out before you do any type of modifications. granted on most of the v6 trannys, honda/acura has extended the warrenty to 100k miles, you'd still rather be safe then sorry

I say nothing. Not unless you beef up the tranny or swap on a CL six speed. And if your buying for luxury, then why bother? With the money you're spending on this car you could buy a ton of cars that are way easier and more rewarding to mod.

ok, well ive gotten alot of really good advice, so ive decided to ask the question more on whats an affordable car that i can simply supercharge, and im really not trying to get stick, cause ive been told its quite agravating to learn, plus i dont have anyone to learn with, all my friends are automatic so far, but i duno what do you guys think? an rsx mite do the trick, but i might as well get type s, i duno i just need some hardcore advice on a car choice. whatever u guys think, thanx for puttin up wit my shit,

A stick is easy to learn, unless you are female, then stick with the automatic, because you will probably never learn to properly drive a stick. I learned to drive stick in about an hour, just because I bought a car with a stick and my Dad was too busy to teach me how to drive it that day. He told me what the pedals were for and I figured out the rest myself.

If you want to boost it and go fast, buy something that's relatively common and has a lot of aftermarket support. RSX/Prelude/Integra GSR/Civic Si ('99 or later) would be good choices, it depends on your budget. Which brings us to the next question:

What is your budget for car and modifications?

It all comes down to money.

My girlfriend taught me how to drive a stick. It's cake.

For the money it'd cost you to boost the car you want, you're better off just buying something else with a stronger aftermarket, and at least more potential.

turbo, SC's are better left on v8's but if you id go sc don't go roots

voretch kit would be nice but you'll like the turbo alot better,

about 12k is what ive got set away, but i still need to sell my car, 00 accord, thats another 4-5k, so somewhere around 17k. i would like to just buy a car around 11-13k and use the other for the turbo and some other shit
ok, so, if i got a stick, it wouldnt take as much work as the auto, to install and run the turbo? also, would a package or whatever tha fuck, include all i needed? or would i have to buy more shit?
and one last thing, is it safe to assume that im goin to need a cat, and the turbo kit. so around 4k?
thanx again for all the time and help

For that price, I'd go with something like:

'99 Civic Si (for the B16 engine)
Greddy Turbo Kit
Hondata S200 -w- boost
RC 550 injectors
dyno tuning

That will get you a fast, good running, reliable car. You get the manual tranny because auto trannys have a greater tendency to fail if you put a bunch more power through them, where manual trannys are usually fine with it.
