I'm sure a lot of you have heard of Seti and know what it does. Folding@Home is another distributed project where your computer simulates folding a protien with it's spare cycles when you aren't doing anything with it. Instead of trying to find aliens you would be trying to find cures for different diseases including cancer. If you want to help mankind for the better go to this thread and fold with Procooling.

http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=10448&page=1&pp=30

Here is a link to the official site if you want more information on what exactly your computer would be doing.

There are already hundreds of thousands of people participating in the project but the more people that join in the better chances we have of helping to find cures for some of these diseases.
