So my exhuast manifold is leaking, and sounds like it's farting when i give it gas. I've been told that coppertone spray will solve the problem. Before I make the trek out to autozone, I was wondering what your opinions on this are. Is a new gasket absolutely necessary? Any particular brand of stuff I should use?

-Thanks

Last I checked coppertone is suntan lotion.

Maybe you mean copper sealant? LMAO.

Yes you want a god gasket in between the head and the manifold.

Wait.....sun tan lotion? is that good for my car? Will it turn a nice bronze color?haha

The gasket is only a couple months old. What does a crap exhaust mani. look like, so I know if it needs replacing?

I used to have exhaust sealing problems. I switched my exhaust gasket to a Mr. Gasket copper seal gasket and haven't had any leaks since.

It only works if you get SPF 60 ;)

I've used it on my turbo set-up as well and it got rid of my leaks.

Get a new gasket and make sure it made of metal and not that paper crap. Tight the nut and bolt with some hi-temp threadlocker. I have the same problem B4 w/ my integra.

Is there a difference between the D16Y8 from a '98 and '99??? my gasket i bought is '92-'98. I'm not sure what year the engine i bought was. ( I just cared about the mileage and how it ran), and I thought it was all the same :)

www.hondaautomotiveparts.com -- look at the part number for the 98 and then look at the P/N for the 99 and see.

for the '98 it's part 19804 or 19805
for the '99 it's only 19805

Why would racerwheel sell the exhaust manifold gasket as '92-'98 then?

You can't really compare by those part numbers. Use http://www.slhondaparts.com to get the real Honda part numbers.
