Hatch vs Hatch,GSR,SC Si

Ok I guess I'll post some of the recent races that I've done.

While in Denver I meet up with a guy that has a 89 hatch with a b16. Just about the same setup as I do but in a lighter car. We raced on the slickest street in Denver and I beat him with him right next to my door.

Also raced this GSR. He always pulled on me in 3rd gear before I installed my test pipe. Well we raced about 3 times and 1st gear I get the jump. 2nd gear is when I pull the hardest and I switch into 3rd and he is about a car behind me. We raced from a roll and it was a little closer but I still manage to pull him all the way to the top of 3rd gear! Usually he just passes me right up on his top end. Cheapest and best mod done so far :)

Then I raced Rico for fun and I got the jump off the line fo course. 1st gear he pulls even with me and he switches into second and he is already a car or 2 ahead. and he shuts off.

So there is my fun for the weekend.

Id like to see how the neon does against you here. I know in georgia in the 1/8th strip against a SI i would take him on the line and up threw 2nd, but he would barely start gaining in 3rd, I always won, but he was usually gaining by the end. My 3rd drops to low and i dont pull till i get up about 10mph. I know in a sprint up to 100 he would probably take me cause us neons have terrible aerodinamics. Maybe sometime ill have a chance before its gone.

I'll take on the neon. I think it would be a close race. Name the time and place, and I'll see if I can make it. FWIW, sunday during the day might be better for me. I'm usually busy doin shit at night.

The laser is stock right now, but with taxes and money from the neon heres what im ordering

-Evo manifold
-3" Cat back
-2.5" Down Pipe
-Test pipe
-Hard intake pipes
-k&n filter
-walbro 255gpm fuel pump
-All the guages i need
-Pocket logger
-SAFC
-TT

Thats it for now...Dont want to dump too much into it right away...
It seems like alot, but its still less than i spent for the hahn turbo for the neon so i can deal with it.

Oh yeah, ill take what ever lead you give me, just dont complain if you cant make up the distance;)

You might need a bit more to beat the Firebird. Is your Laser AWD? I couldn't remember. You're gonna need to run high boost and through a FMIC.
I think the stock SMIC might be my stumbling block to running 12s at Bandi.

Well im fwd, and i was thinking about trying out water injection too, but thats gonna come later after i get everything set up. I wouldnt run WS6 from a stop, id have to go from a roll. At the track im just gonna run slicks. I have to keep the Laser as a daily driver so i can build a truck, I have crazy hook ups when i comes to old chevy trucks.

I am probably going to be getting a car within the next month or two (if I can get a job).

I am giving the STS to my dad (he really likes it).

The cars I'm looking at are...
A) 98-00 Ford Contour SVT
B) 98-00 Grand Prix GTP
C) 98-00 Camaro Z28
D) 97-00 Integra GSR
E) 98-00 Prelude Type-SH
F) Or I wait a few months and try to get an 02 Focus SVT.

Whatever I get will have to be a daily driver.

Have you read up on the 02 Focus SVT? Pretty bad ass car. Sure a Camaro would win in a race every time, but the Focus would be more fun to drive overall.

Depends on how you define "bad ass". 170hp and 145 lb of torque in a 2770 lb FWD car doesn't rate in my book as "bad ass". But each to his own :)

Focus: 16.29 weight to power ratio, FWD, N/A

Eclipse: 15.03, AWD, Turbo

WRX: 13.59, AWD, Turbo

My opinion of course. Be a big change to go from a big ass STS to a Focus/Civic/Matrix cookie cutter hatchback...

well going from an STS to anything else is going to be a big change. And no a Focus isn't "badass" by any stretch of the imagination. But from a cost standpoint, a brand new car, pretty good performance, fresh looks, fabulous handling, all for under 20,000, that is pretty hard to beat!

I've got a feeling whatever I end up with will be pretty cool though. Certainly a lot of choices.

As for your comment about AWD cars...Pretty much all of those you listed would be impossible to get for under $20000. And I just don't like any of the cars you listed :)
