I finally got tired of repeating myself so here is a small writeup on how to check your dead honda for ignition issues. It is a very common occurance that the dreaded igniter unit fails, here is a quick and easy test on how to diagnose and repair it.

Very useful. Luckily, I have not run into a no-spark issue yet.

Next time I do one of these at the shop I will take pics of the procedure to help the reading impaired.

* by reading this thread, you agree to be billed at the standard rate for diagnostic time for the amount of time that it took you to read it.

I learned the hard way on friday. I should have gone through and tested everything before I brought the car to the Dyno.. Time to upgrade the Ingition system..

get a test lite, remove cap. put key on, chk for power at both wires of the coil you should have power, put test lite on negative side of the coil, have someone crank engine , if test lites pulses u got a bad coil.....if lite does not pulsate u got a bad ignitor ..,it is easier to access coil than the ignitor wires ..,

Thats not entirely true. You could still have a good igniter and not get a pulse on the coil signal wire.

wouldnt you want to first open the oil fill cap and crank the car to see if the camshaft is even moving because if it isnt then the distributor isnt gonna move because you have a broken timing belt or something? for step one

This help guide is for engines with no spark, not a no start guide. If it were a diagnostic tool for a no start issue. It would include that.
