shift key hates me

when ever i hit the shift key when im typing 97]; gets entered, then a new explorer window gets opened and my sound gets muted in my control panel

think its a virus or something
anybody got a free scanner they could recommend

thanks tool...im so glad i post some minor problem on hai so i can be reassured of why i hate this site so much.

i figured it out my keyboard is broken...when i hit the shift key it is hitting a lot of keys, including the hot keys like homepage and mute.
