Isn't it just some throwback to some announcer saying it back in the 70's???? Idunno just thought it was friggen gay.. I like NASCAR, its racing just like anything else. I personally think F1 is boring, but to each their own. Everyone calls them hicks, but hey are some pretty damn intelligent hicks. They keep finding ways to make those 3000 pound cars approach 200 mph with all the restrictions they put on them.. Besides I am not sure what being a redneck has anything to do with nascar, the majority of drag racers are "hicks" and no one makes fun of them. And B20 is right it's way better than baseball......

the only time f1 is interesting to me is when those cars run on the long large broad sweeping tracks that allow them to get up to 200mph. Not just once on a back straight before they gotta go relatively slow turning around things. So take the f1 cars to michigan or telladega and they are awsome. NASCAR has to run the restrictor plate because the nascar's of old *used to go over 200mph but the danger of the crashes at that speed on their type of tracks were making it a fatal sport. Even so they still push the limits greatly, and I think it's great racing. I just dont like it when they gotta those really short tracks where they can only go like 90 or so miles an hour. Passing is passing, in f1 they have to outcorner and outsmart, in nascar they gotta outdraft and outsmart. Not much difference imo both require strategy and skill. Just one happens at lower speeds overall. But to each there own, i dont see why nascar is labled hick so much. Is it just because it's an american derived sport? Monster trucks though is my most favorite motor sport.

I personally like Nascar cause of the high speed races even if they do just continuously turn left. Those guys have their cars dialed in so much it's just crazy to think about how much they balance out the cars to do so. There's a couple of nascar tracks that have more 'f1' like racing style and those tracks are 'okay', but I still much prefer seeing a good race at talladega versus anything else.

The old Superbird performed so much better with a wing that they ended up putting some crazy engine displacement restriction on winged cars. It helps them achieve the terribly shitty aerodynamics that causes the cars to suck at high speeds and require limiting. It's pointless and gay rules like this that are part of the reason people think it's hick.

However the restrictor plate wasn't enacted without a lot of heat and people being pissed off. It was fun to see the 200mph laps along with the crashes back in the old on-restrictor plate days. Granted draftng didn't mean much in nascar until the plate was really introduced but I still like the sport none-the-less, but yeah I would definately like to loose the plate and let the cars run full tilt. you never know though if the same thing may happen to f1. But I don't think they really need it on a lot of tracks as they can't really get up to a speed that would make it stupid to race w/out losing a driver a day.

Even short tracks are cool.. To tell you the truth i was only into imports when my uncle started racing a modified a few years back and after the first night i went to the track and watched it i was hooked.. personally i think it is a lot harder than it looks.. so what if they ALMOST always go left; when everyone is trying to go around the same left hand turns over and over again certain peopel end up being better at it and certain people arent... i think it is seriously intense competition.. and about f1s going over 200 all the time.. who gives a shit.. nascar HAD to slow down or people would die. in f1 they can aford those high of speeds because if are ever even in view of another car on the whole track im sure thier cars have some sort of anti-turbulence fly by wire computer that keeps them from comprehending an all out side by side race, where in nasacar there are races where they may be side by side or 3 wide during the entire duration of the race.. all im sayin is nascar gets a bad rap but i dont see many of the s talkers on here doing ANY form of racing other than the occasional 16 yr old in a mitsu or some crap like that.. so don't talk... (and for the record i race r/c and would autocross but my car was stolen ;))
