George vs 16 year olds

Well I was just minding my own business driving down Jordan to Arapahoe. I stop at a light behind some traffic and notice an older DSM w/ temp tags and a big bullet exhaust on the end. I'm no DSM expert, but it was definately an older one looking pretty boxy. Anyhow the light goes green and low and behold the DSM takes off all slow while I drive up to it and past it. I had my windows down and I could hear his car starting to rev up and next thing I hear is psshhhht in my window! WTF, the guy just did that to me!? :) So I look over and this kid along with his two buddies were in the car. He looked to be around 15-16 tops. So I was like ahhh man, I can't just let some kid like that blow off on me and tell stories at HS about how he blew off on a nissan 'n shit. So I wanted to see if he could beat me or not. So I downshifted to 3rd and stayed right at 3k rpms with my front bumper behind his rear bumper on the other lane waiting for him to gun it. So he saw me do this and he then downshifted his car and guns it. Once I heard him gun it, I layed down the throttle too. Keep in mind we got traffic but I stayed in throttle till a little shy of 5k rpms which took around 3-4 seconds to get there. At that time my front bumper was already past his and I was pulling him easily. I had to shut down (because of the white suburban in front of me, but it would of been fun to have let myself get in the 5k+ range where the cams really kick in) with my drivers window by his front bumper and he immediately turns off. I woulda gave him a lil thumbs up for letting me have some fun, but he was already off. I know there's a bunch of quick dsm's, but this was definately not one of them. But it was a fun little run and a good laugh.

Even with just a muffler and exhaust, a turboed DSM isn't all that fast.

Speaking of Wally... he apparently "raced" some of TealCivic's high school friends a while back and they "hung with him". I guess having almost 3 times the torque and horsepower just isn't enough to get away from a basically stock Civic hatchback. :rofl: This just goes to show that no matter what really happens, idiot kids are going to call it a race and then just bullshit about what happened.

You have to know how to drive a DSM for it to be fast too. If it's not running 15+psi, it's a slower than a stock GT Mustang, which should tell you right there. I beat DSM's all the time in my 03 civic si turbo, but it's only becasue they can't drive. They'll have gauges, SAFC and loud blow off valves, and who knows what else. I assume they are running more boost, but they don't win. But, I have a 92 Talon with 115,000 miles on it, downpipe, catback, SAFC and boost controller. It runs like shit and I think it might be a little faster than my civic. I did give a guy a re-match and he beat me that time, a few weeks later.
