The Buick Grand National guys use these numbers for altitude correction w/forced induction. They only correct up to 5500 ft, but if someone were to, say run an 11.94 @ 119.77 mph at 5800 ft, that would translate to an 11.12 @ 128.52...

That seems a bit of a stretch to me.

The URL is http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/altitude.html

When you guys use correction factors, what numbers are you using?

Just curious.

Cheers.

The NHRA correction factor for Bandimere is .912.

That's probably the ET factor, but what about MPH?

The GN guys table indicates the correction factors for 5500 FT are .9315 for ET and 1.0731 for MPH.

Are the NHRA corr factors in the NHRA handbook?

I've got a print out of the NHRA factors. For 5500, the ET is .9315, the MPH is 1.0731. If I'm not mistaken, Bandimere is at 5830'. I've used some good old interpolation from 5800-5900 and so forth until I reached .9269, (ET) and 1.078, (MPH).

FYI, 5800' .9276 (ET) 1.0773 (MPH)
5900' .9263 (ET) 1.0787 (MPH). http://24.8.28.79/ubb/biggrin.gif

Of course, I don't know about the pressure and temperature correction factors, or the proper factors for forced induction cars....

Amen to THAT, brother v8spankr. http://24.8.28.79/ubb/biggrin.gif

All I need to do is convince my wife that what I plan for the car is REALLY IMPORTANT, and not just a whim...

I understand your issue here. Since I can't find my timeslips, the next time I run at Bandimere I'll post non-corrected times...even though they'll be faster than my 'corrected' times are now. http://24.8.28.79/ubb/biggrin.gif

This is a high altitude forum,we know most of us run at Bandi so just post your times with the elevation next to it. If I go by the correction factor you guys are using then I run 12.8s. I feel funny posting a time that the car never ran and you can't be sure you'd run the corrected number anyway. It's like saying "my penis would be an inch bigger in outer space 'cause of no gravity" or something like that. If flat landers don't understand how altitude affects our times then fuck 'em. They need a lesson in science.Just be proud of your times at our oxygen deficient altitude, people that understand the altitude will be impressed. I know when us 4banger guys run in the 13s our cars get noticed, especially John,s ex car,the Eclipse(400+hp) that ran low 12s fully streetable including power everything, stereo, all his seats, etc. Now his Supra is about to blow people away this summer. http://24.8.28.79/ubb/biggrin.gif I can't wait.
