Just got my Honda back after I had a D16Y8 from a '99 civic installed, and I had my mods ported over also. Anyways, I've been without the car for close to 2 months, and as I was losing compression in the old engine, the car was getting to be very slow. So I was curious to see how the new engine held up.
First race was with a Silver Focus SVT. Started off the line at a slow pace to see if he wanted to race. He kept pace, so I blipped the throttle so he could hear it. He followed suit and gunned it, coming up to about my front fender. By that time, I had it floored in 2nd gear, and pulled on him hard. Shifed into 3rd, and I had pulled ahead a bus length. I shut down about 75, and he then went screaming by.
Next race was with a black WRX wagon. Same scenario as we both started slowish off the line. My civic looks stock except for the wheels, so maybe the wrx thought I wasn't worth his time. So I again, blipped the throttle to entice him into a race. Starting in 2nd, going about 20mph, I initiated the race and he followed. It was a pretty close race. I did have the jump on him, and he was about my rear bumper at the start of the race. He got up to about my passenger door, before he started dropping back. The race went through the better part of 3rd gear, and then he shut down and I shut down also. I thought it was a really good race, and I wanted to see if he would go again, but he would not pull up to me. I slowed down to 35mph to let him catch up, but he stayed a steady 2 car lengths behind me. Still not sure if I could beat a WRX, but it was a good race nonetheless.
Just glad to have my car back. w00t w00t
