About 85% of the people who need fuel changes use one. It's not the first one I'd pick up since the timing isn't controlled.

What would you suggest?

I'd suggest getting the computer reflashed by one of the guys who do Evo computers. There's a bunch of em, and they can really uncork a good chunk of power, especially if you get cams, exhaust and a downpipe.

I've been looking at a flash also. Just heard that w/ a S-AFC you can tune it and get some extra horses.

You can. But I think a flash isn't much more expensive, and is much better. Fuel + timing = lots more hp.

What is everyone at evom.net doing? I would think flash would be the way to go because it would address all parameters as SK said. What mods do you have so far?

The EVO's run pretty rich from the factory. An AFC will let you lean it out and see more power for pretty cheap. If you wanted to spend a little extra money, I would either go with TurboXS UTEC or XEDE. Both are good engine management tools, but kinda pricey if you're on a budget. The bad things about a reflash is that most of the people that do them are at sea level and if you want to make any other changes to your car ypu need to get the computer reflashed.

UTEC is the way to go

I wouldn't mind a UTEC but the $ is keeping me back from getting one. LOL

I'd buy a used SAFC...
the afc will give you the ability to tune your fual, but its going to mess with timing a bit to.

The best thing to do is a reflash, or UTEC. That way your not tricking the ECU by changing the airflow signal.

My roommate got his STI UTEC for like $800

Well I'm going to do some research. I don't have $800 to buy a UTEC.

Save up for it.... it made a huge difference on his car. Stock map is so slow compaired to "stage 2"... the difference being more timing and less fuel. Not to mention he can now do what ever he wants for mods and adjust for them properly.

Well I see what I can do. I'm pretty sure I'm getting deployed in Sept so I might buy one than.
