Okay guys.. just as the title reads. I've been seriously considering getting a bike, but this is a new subject to me so I am unsure as to what kind of bike would be best. You guys have any ideas? My friends suggested an R6 which I've looked at and they are really nice, but I'm kinda worried since it would be my first time riding. I was thinking about getting one that's a little older maybe, but still looks good. Suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!!!

Ninja EX500 would be a good starter bike. Suzuki SV650 is a good starter bike as well.

Okay I'll look those up now.. thanks!! Do you happen to know of any places in CO that have a website I could check out... that actually sell bikes I mean? I found a couple, but their selection was kind of bland. BTW what year would you suggest on those bikes?

there were a couple guys selling bikes that small last month, here

also, there are places down here that have three day coures that also give you the paperwork for your license after your done. so all you do is walk into the dmv and they take your pic pretty much

That's nice to know, but that wouldn't work if I live in Cheyenne would it? Or could I take the paperwork or whatever they give you to the DMV here? Hmmm....

My suggestion is to get something with minimal plastic fairings, or one that already has some imperfections. Most likely, you'll drop your bike at one point, and fairings aren't cheap. I'd think a well maintained used bike would be best to start out with.

Yea that's exactly what I was thinking... I've seen people drop their bikes and it's not pretty afterward. LOL. I'm really just not sure what kind to even begin looking at... i mean i want sometime that isn't outrageously priced, not too heavy and still at the same time kinda looks good....

I did look at that Ninja EX500... That's not a bad looking bike to start with..
