Hello,
I'm new to this site, but I was wondering if there is any intrest here in a road rally. Some of you may have competed in last years event, and it was my first one and I only was a co-driver. This year, I tried to find out what the story was but it turns out the long time event organizer, Jay, can no longer put on this event. However, if it looks like there is enough intrest (~15 cars +) he is willing to help those who are interested set it up. We would need a comitee of 4-5 people who would evenly split up the work. This work is mostly course selection, and is very fun (or so I hear) as instead of runing the course only once, we would get to run it 10-20 times. Furthermore, if we can get a comitee toghether Jay would be willing (amoung other Road-rally oldtimers) to help us learn the ropes of organizing the event, help with course selection, and get ahold of timing equipment. This will not be a large time comitment, but make sure you have enough free time for it.

Can't help out organizing it? Thats fine too as more than anything we need people who would be at least interested in such a event. For those of yolu who do not know the road rally format, it takes place on gravel, or paved roads and is not a race. The goal however is accuracy, and trying to match the set speed for a certin leg of the rally. For example, if a certin 10 mile section has a set course time of 15 minutes, the closest person to that time wins that section. The person with the lowest amount of error wins at the end. These type of races are very popular in Northern california, with everything from Porches, to hondas, to subarus, and EVO's running. Also, these events run with the blessing of local authorities so this is not at all a "street race" or other illegal event. This event will most likely occur early-to-mid fall 2005.

Please post here if you are interested, and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. I spend most my time over on awdpirates.net and i-club.com so you can also contact me there.

I'm interested. I wasn't able to make it to last year's event, but wish that I would have.
