They rust to the nut on the inside of the frame. When you take them off they get really tight then snap that means you broke the weld on the nut off inside the frame. Unfortunatly you are screwed, It will have to be cut off to get it the rest of the way off, and when you do there is very little hope of fixing the welded nut, there is no access to it without cutting open the frame.

??? never tried to hack one. I always send them to the body shop to weld a new section on.

Its pretty expensive, I would try giving Concourse cars of denver a call. They do the best work I have found. I dont have their number off hand though.
