After my wheel is on, lugnuts torqued down, it has some play in it... maybe 1/4"-1/2" each way. Is this a wheel bearing I assume?

Wheel bearing or ball joint.

Wheel bearing or ball joint.

Oh it could be a balljoint??? Would the lower balljoint affect it?

Are you referring to rotating play? If so, that's normal.

I've never had any of my cars do this which is why I am asking... elabarate on rotating play though. :)

Grab the top of the wheel and shake it back and fourth like you are checking for slop in the camber... it should be very solid; if it moves you have a problem. I've seen wheel bearing and ball joints produce similar symptoms. If it's a ball joint, you can usually pull the wheel off and pull/push on the knuckle to see what joint is moving. If it's a wheel bearing, the hub will have slop in it.

The lower balljoint is toast, I know this for a fact. When doing my axle swap the rubber boot came off and the whole thing was already fucked up. So I've been driving on it... it's been making some interesting noises recently. But I wasn't sure if this would also be creating slop in the wheel.

All I did was shake it side to side (toe in/toe out)... I'll jack it up and check the other axis.

Side to side is usually the tie rod, either the inner or outer or both. Shake the wheel side to side and look at the outer tie rod, it should move the same as the knuckle. If that looks tight than put your hand on the inner boot and shake side to side. You can feel the inner tie rod moving around before it moves anything else. With extreme cases when you shake side to side it's caused by ball joints, so if you think it's bad then double check everything.
