Anyone had any problems using a Snell M-rated helmet for a track school (HPDE) event? The rules of the car club co-hosting the event say it's fine as long as I'm not running time trials, but I've heard of people having problems if they don't bring a SA-rated helmet, which I thought was only required if I had a roll cage. I have used my M-rated helmet at autox events with no problems from the tech people.

It depends on the sanctioning body and their insurance... M works for SCCA autocross and Time Trials levels 1 and 2. However, if you are in a prepared or modified class (including Street Mod), you'll need full safety gear (SA helmet + more) for all levels of Time Trials, including driver's school. Otherwise, SA is only required for Time Trials levels 3 and 4, and Club/Pro Racing.

Well, I'll definitely be in Street Mod, so I guess I'd better check with the car club.
