Are there any modifications available for the Legacy GT?

Other than what's offered through Subaru..cause I've already found those.

I was just wondering. It's on sexxy ass car. I was thinking about taking one for a test drive this weekend. Just for the hell of it. Can't really afford the payments....but why should that stop me?

There are tons of mods for them. Pretty much all the aftermarket wrx and sti companies have put stuff out. I've had mine for about 6 months now and love it. It's an 05 legacy gt limited. I'll probably put a turboback and get the ecu flashed here in thenext few weeks. The numbers I have seen from that are impressive. One dyno I saw had over 100 ft/lb of torque improvement over stock i nthe low end. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8241 This shows results from a couple different minor mods. For about 1 grand it puts out more power than a stock STI :)

Wow....60hp loss from the factory through the drivetrain?

I'm complaining....and I'm prolly not even boasting 120hp to the FW on mine....HaHa! I'm stupid.

Good stuff though. Maybe when I become wealthy, I could afford the payments on one!

Hey do you get the stinky clutch? My dads clutch will stink if you dont launch it just right, seems the clutch releases slow.

Brian are you getting Cobb Accessport/

Brian

If you ride it too much it does smell, but I figure that's pretty normal with most cars. This one just seems a bit touchy on the launches.

I think so. It seems to be one of the better ones out there at this point.

Cobb accessport? Hmmm....I got lots to learn.

I contacted Heuberger...and gave the guy my story. He says It could happen, that I should come in for a test drive. He could very well be blowing smoke straight up my azz....but atleast I'll get to test drive it! HaHa!

Still checking out that Legacy forum Brian....lots of good stuff! Thanx.

Bust. My knees hit the steering wheel something terrible. So....do these Japanese engineers think they're the ONLY fu*#'n ones that drive their cars? Do they refuse to believe that people DO get taller than 5'6"?

LeonZ
02-26-2005, 04:02 PM
haha I don't think so cuz our STi's have really wide seats compared to nice small Japanese seats.

JL LGT
02-26-2005, 05:58 PM
I was trying to figure out a way to get the damn seat a good 2" lower than what it was sitting in the Legacy.

Everyone at the dealership was pretty much clueless. So no help there.

If I could sit 2"+ lower in the Legacy....I'd be in love w/ a new car!

Any ideas?

I've emailed Recaro about their Sport seat to see if they have a bracket available for the Legacy GT yet.

The guy behind the parts counter at Subaru told me that there's an air bag in the seat itself and if it's removed, it will trip the light forever more.

I may just have to figure out a way around this! I REALLY want this damn car!

I just test drove a limited GT today....NICE ride. i cannot wait till they come out with some more mods for it. It would be cool to see some more done up right.

My sis has a blue tiptronic with the sport shift on it....It's a cool car and 10x's nicer than the 2.5 RS she had before.

JL LGT

I've been told by owners on the Legacy forum to go back in and test fit the limited. It's 8 way adjustable, and may give me that little bit of extra room I'm looking for.

If not...I'll have my fingers crossed that Recaro has an option.

Brian

I was going to say, muine is the limited, and I have a ton of adjustments in my seat. It also moves the height up and down which may be just what you are looking for.

JL LGT
02-27-2005, 03:06 PM
The non LTD has the height adjustment, but it's manual...and all it really does is push the rear end of the seat up.

<~~Fingers crossed. If it works out....I'll be purchasing a new GT when I get back from Spain!

Very cool, where in the springs are you? I'm just up on powers if you ever want to check the car out.

I live out by the old airport. I'm currently looking for a house too. I'm aiming for Soaring Eagles, Fountain Valley or Down off of Westmeadow or Eastmeadow.

I grew up (well kinda, '85-'92) off of Eastmeadow. Valley View St., actually.

Now I live in the ghetto of Aurora ;)

Right on! I grew up....well....all over the dayum place. Born in Germany, moved about a dozen times before my father retired here in 94. Been here ever since.

Hey 1EighT.....it works! They're locating a OBP LTD-GT for me right now. Trying to see if I can get one without that damn wing!

HaHa! Bring on the boost! Damn if that car isn't quick!

Brian
02-28-2005, 08:03 PM
Awesome! yeah, I went wingless on mine too. Let us know when you get it :D. Just wait, you will love it. It really wakes up after about 1,000 miles are on the engine too.

Yeah....going from 115HP-86TQ on the Accord to 191HP-190TQ on the Leggie is definately teasing me right now!

As soon as I sat in the Limited and started lowering the seat.....it got to a point where I KNEW it was on like Donkey Kong.

The difficult part is going to be the "ease-in" period for me. I'm gonna take it easy on the car for 1000-1500 miles.

I'm gonna have some extra cash left over after DP, so I've gotta decide which mods I'm gonna do first. I'm thinking up pipe & stage 1.

Then go w/ the catless exhaust & run stage 2 later when I can find somebody to dyno tune it.

i dont know about you guys, but that picture on the first page makes me want one so bad. i think it looks infinitely better than a STi. do they have the 2 liter or the 2.5?

JL LGT
03-01-2005, 10:21 PM
The Legacy GT has the 2.5 liter boxer engine.

That kit is Gialla. I'm currently trying to locate a supplier here in the states for that kit. It's sooooo damn sexy!

Overall I think the legacy GT is way cooler than any wrx, Sti included. As a car to use and drive everyday it is way nicer and IMO doesnt feel as cheap........

Zach
03-03-2005, 04:43 PM
how much are they?
base price

Brian
03-03-2005, 05:04 PM
It's the same engine the STi has with a slightly smaller turbo. Larger than the Forrester and wrx though. VF40 I believe.

Base price I don't know. My limited fully loaded with every option was like 31 sticker, but I got it for 26K

I honestly had the paperwork done to buy an STi, but I wanted something a little more upscale as far as the interior goes, plus it makes a better daily driver IMO. (i'd still love to buy an STi as a toy though)

Finshed! Tis mine! I freakin LOVE this car!

So....there's T-Minus 932 miles to go!
