View Full Version : Anyone interested in an alarm simulator?

I'm making one for someone else and one for my roommate, it's just an LED that flashes every 3 seconds, it turns on when the ignition is off and turns back off when the ignition is on. Totally self contained, when all is said and done it'll probably be about $20 or so. I could make it to flash your turn signals a couple times a few seconds after turning on, if you wanted. In its basic form only 3 wires to hook up other than the LED; 12v power, ground, and 12v ignition signal. If you wanted you 4 ways to flash that would be an additional 2 wires to hook up.
Anyone want one? The only thing I need is a box and board to contain it so you could just tuck it under the dash and wire the LED(s) whereever you want. I have a full working version on my test board, it's a very simple little contraption, 100% electronic and consumes almost no power at all.

It's a flashing light so it looks like a real alarm. It's a theft deterrent.

you'll be surprised how that works
and just put it where, like on the top center of the dash, or by the windows or what?

smart thinkin! thats pretty inventive
so i was just thinkin, could you make ones that go inside the door panel, ones that blink right above the handle, if you could do that, that would be awesome, i think that would work the best
i dont have money right now, but when i do, i want like three, one for the dash, one for each of the doors

It's just one small box that can control just about as many LED's as you want, you just have to wire them in. You can put the box anywhere, the just connect the LED(s) and put them where you want. It turns on automatically when the ignition is off, and turns off when the ignition is on, so you never have to access the box itself, it's totally self-sufficient.
I'm sick and thus not too motivated to finish soldering it to the board. Once I/m feeling better I'll finish up the prototype and probably amke a couple extra while I'm at it.

Yeah, and you guys must work for CarToys. Sheez  ... I take the time to register here, and I'm accused of spamming on my first post? Lame.
Below is the picture of the envelope I received from Canada, sent to my address in Denver, after a successful purchase via e-bay.
