View Full Version : B16 or B18b
Here is what i am thinking. i would love to be able to boost my b16, but i have been hearing that the b18b is better for boost. would it be worth it to pull out my b16 and swap in a b18. i just read on some thread that stock integra ls's hold up to b16ed civics. any truth to this?

b16 is better for NA. B18b is better for boost. Both run about the same times stock. But if you already have a b16 boost that. Whats his face on here has 400whp with his (sorry who ever you are :D )
so for just some basic boost, what type of stuff should i be using? should i get a mitsubishi 14b or 16g turbo, or should i get a garrett or something else? who makes the best manifold? what injectors and other stuff would i need? im not trying to go crazy with boost, because i am definately not going to be able to upgrade internals for a little while
my stock LS on 17psi ran a 12.3 with a 2.0 60ft with 338hp...:p
LS motors love boost with stock internals....
see thats what i have heard. and i was thinking that i might be able to find someone to trade me straight up. think its possible?
if i was you i'd throw in a thicker headgasket and ARP headbolts into the b16 and have some fun with it.....gurannted it'll make more power than the LS and last just as long. LS's jus come with turbo friendly compression from factory...
sweet, thanks for the info man, i appreciate it

so wait, im thinkin i might be able to trade my b16 for a b18b, and im seriously considering it, because i dont know how much power b16s can handle on stock internals, but i doubt that its 17psi, and 338 hp. is this a good idea or not?

i think you should just do the b16.. i think that it might give you the same results as a b18b and you don't have to worry about trading and all that work... if you do decide to change engines than you should sell your b16 and then buy a b18b for less money and use what's left over for your turbo.
so what size head gasket should i use. i read somwhere that it messes up the rod/stroke ratio or somthing like that. i know about ARP head bolts, but which ones? thanks
