View Full Version : WRX mods?

I have never had a turbo car before. I have a WRX with catback magna flow exhaust, cobb AP, and a K&N. Any other Subaru owners have any reccomendations for good power adders or any other suggestions? Thanks.

What's up? You should get a downpipe. Alot of wrx owners also upgrade the uppipe.

Get a new up pipe, a boost controller and a bigger intercooler. The STi scoop couldn't hurt either. Also, getting one of the computer controllers will make the driveability better with upped boost, something like ChipTorque or Xede, but those are from Vishnu, I'll let others chime in on that. Also, upgrading to a VF30 or VF34 will give you a lot more top end power

He said he has accessport, he doesnt need another Engine Management. Anyway, yea, get a downpipe and you can go AP Stage 2. After that, you can get a VF30 or 34 like Robbie stated. Both of these turbos are supported by accessport Stage 2.5. You can also upgrade suspension. I have an 04 as well, welcome to the site.

Thanks for all the help. Suspension is what I think I want to do next, except I don't want to lower it any because I go up to the mountains in the winter like once or twice a week to snowboard. Is upgrading the turbo going to be pretty pricey? I'll look into the uppipe and downpipe.

what kinda bov do most wrx owners use? theyre so LOUD. they sound kinda like eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

The WRX BOV looks just like a 1G DSM BOV, I've heard from unconfirmed sources that it is in fact the Mtsu unit with a different mounting flange. THE DSM BOV sounds pretty good, in my opinion, it makes a pretty aggressive hiss (at least in a 3/S).

Like a blow off valve. Mine is pretty quiet. I use Forge.

I've talked with two different people who said the BOV actually decreases overall HP, you guys notice any difference? I used to run a cold air set up where you delete the factory intake and that had a pretty good sound, but the guys at Cobb said when I got the AP that they actually tested it stock and it seems to run better. They are the ones ( I think ) who said not to even run an aftermarket BOV. Any advice there?

Looks like I'll be installing a rear swaybar and steering rack bushings this weekend on the pigSTI.

I run AP with a BOV and it's fine, no difference in performance at all. At least I don't feel anything different.

AP stage 2 made a huge difference. From 3 grand it pulls like a stock STi.
