View Full Version : Dyno Day?

We've got the opportunity to rent out a Mustang Dyno for the day, so we were thinking of running a little dyno day there. We can only rent out the place on Saturdays. Our initial estimate is $60-70 per car for a baseline run (3 pulls). That price will do down if we can get enough interest. They don't have an A/F analyzer yet, so we won't be able to do any hardcore tuning. We've got 2 people in so far, and would need a minimum of 7 to be able to rent it out for the day. No 'official' date has been set, but we could run as early as this Saturday. If interested, post here.
Thanks!
Josh

Mustang Dyno's suck and $60-70 bucks for a couple pulls without an a/f reading is a ripoff.

It's in Sheridan, just off Santa Fe and Hampden. Technically, we will be running the event out of our shop, but the dyno is at the diesel emissions place directly across the street from our shop.

Well then don't come. We're not trying to get rich here. If we're lucky we'll get enough people to just break even and cover the cost of renting the dyno. If you don't like the dyno or the price, don't go.

I won't come trust me, I'm 1300 miles away. Go to Dynopro or MAC auto and pay less and get more.

Where at, I'd love to just test a theory of mine. I just want a single pull to find out.

At my school DADC (Denver Automotive and Diesel College), but I would have to talk to the high performance teacher first to see when he is available.

We can only do FWD and RWD, so we wouldn't be able to do your GSX if thats what your thinkin? But we can dyno the GST.

I was thinking the GS-T. My talon won't be ready till later this year. I just wanted to compare airflow numbers against FWHP to see if there truly is a legitimate link betwee thetwo. I have always heard that if you multiply airflow lbs. per minute times 10 that should be your HP. now theory sorta makes sense but wanted to test it myself. If thats the case I would be putting down 285hp in my GS-T @ 13psi. 'burnout:

I'm not looking to do it right away, probably in like three weeks or so.

I think thats pretty close to the MOST possible you can make, at sealevel... Your turbo flows 28lbmin at 13 psi?

Pretty close to that ya, I have a little boost creep but It never really gets above 14 psi. even still you have to remeber the air is Cold right now. In the summer I had logged once before and @ 16 psi I was able to only get about 27.7lbs. per min but my car was knocking like crazy and had the timing pulled all the way down to like 9 or 10 deg. It seems to pull sooo much harder whenthe boost is down to 13 and isn't knocking. Again this isn't my fast car, jst my daily driver w/o any kind of fuel control, hence the low boost level.

seriously though your group price sucks ricer balls.... you can set some thing up at mac for $50 for 3 pulls, with a wideband and you'll have more people showing up since they can do awd too.

Wow, I should of titled this thread "Talk sh*t here!". Ha.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you don't like the price, then don't go.
Anyhow, I'll talk to the owner and see if he'll budge a bit on the price. Obviously, it's not going to happen until then. So what then, ~$20/pull sound reasonable?

Its easy, tell the greedy fuckin owner that Super-Rupair in Boulder has a BRAND NEW AWD Dyno Dynamics dyno, that puts his shit to shame, and is charging $20 For 2 baseline pulls with WB02.
Tell Him Mac with a AWD dyno is cheaper.
Why not organize your dyno days at a different place? Nobody is talking shit, there just telling you to use lube....
