hey,
im new here. i just installed an aem cold air intake for my dodge neon sxt. when i rev it up
it sounds great. but,,,when it just sits in idle, it makes a noise hard to explain. if youve ever heard a sweeper truck go by, its got a steady,,,,wwhuuuuuuuuum. its almost like a vibration. it goes away when i rev it. i grabbed the intake and lifted up with a lil pressure and it also stopped. but i see NOWHERE that its touching anything. i know this explanation sucks. but any ideas?

Sounds like it's resonating on something. Check your install.

its possible that when you put it on, the intake tube is hitting the throtle body. when you lift up on it, you remove the tube from the TB. loosen your clamps on the TB and just slide the tube away a fraction of an inch. If it doesnt fix it, try taking the intake all the way off, and reinstalling it.

ok i looked and my intake pipe/filter is rubbing against the plastic wheel well guard pretty hard. i loosened everything and moved it to my best but theres just no getting away from the fender well guard. i need this guard against rain and water in my filtration and stuff. Any suggestions?

Your SXT has a plastic throttle body. The high pitched whistling you hear is a combination of the AEM intake rubbing where it passes through the inside of the fender, and the plastic throttle body.
You can easily adjust the entire setup until the noise goes away.
If you are looking for more neon info try www.coloradoneons.com or www.neons.org for a big site.
Most of the honda guys around here don't know shit about neons. :)
