I have been looking at Eclipse 2g GST's and GSX's. As anyone I would love to have a GSX but hard to find and I am about ready to settle for a GST. Just wondering if waiting another month or 2 is worth the diff. for the prices.

well my girl has a GST and I love driving it. But honestly all and all I am new to driving turbo's. I have stuck with american muscle and my NA integra and Delsol. for the most part. But I did find a GSX in IL for $8900 so im gonna talk to the guy and see what we can do. The car looks pretty clean but I think its worth the money to fly out there and check it out. whatya think?

Definitely wait for a GSX, also maybe avoid the '97 model year. It was a bad year for crankwalk. Speaking of that, do not buy it until you have done two things. Had crankshaft end play measured and gotten a service history from a Mitsu dealer for that VIN. It just might tell you she got a new engine and whatever else has been done to the car under warranty.
Illinois has nasty winters, try looking in drier states for a cleaner car.

Thanks for the great advice on the state. Ya my girl did have the engine replaced 2 years ago when she bought it. but I have managed to burn the stock clutch in about 2 months LOL.

Is it stock? I rest my case, if you plan on modding it you will spin and spin and spin and spin.. I wish I knew somebody that made that mistake before, there was a 20g spyder runnin around COS and he didnt get traction till 3rd and got owned by the awd stock turbo cars.

My friend had a 16G and a 3in turbo back exahust on a 1gen GS-t running 14 psi and it was fun. Not a huge amount of torque steer, and I never had problems finding traction in that guy. I'd still prefer a GSX though of any year.

Well im gonna give it to the middle of march and If I can't find one by then I will go with the GST. So everyone keep your eye's pealed for a decent price. I want a black one with a sun roof but due to the limited availability I cant be picky. Can anyone recomend a good BOV kit? I know its corny to some but I like the ones that pop.

Like the sound of like a whoosh like a tire popping or like a pop like a cork out of a bottle of Chapagne? I have a Turbo XS type RFL and its hella loud. I like it but I think I am going to switch to a Greddy Type S.

Who makes a BOV that pops? If I heard a pop every time I shifted I would be very worried.

Actually things got better for the thrust bearing in 97. 95 and 96's had a bad problem with crankwalk. Usually if they car is past 80k with no signs of walking it most likely wont.

Havn't even got the car yet and you are picking out blow off valves? Get one that re-circulates unless you are running a different maft setup.

I'm sure your turbo doesnt like the pop sound. Eventually, it'll let you know how much it hates it. :D

Also I have read that the stock intercoolers for this car are underpowered even for the stock turbo's. Should I think about throwing a greddy in at no. 2 on my list? or should I go with down pipe and exsaust first?

I'd say wait on the intercooler, the exhaust should be next or at least a boost gauge and MBC. By the way I will be selling my BOV here very soon if you like to buy it. Anytime you want to hear it let me know. honestly #2 item really should be a datalogger so you know what you are doing.

NOS is a brand, Nitrous is a power adder.. NOS systems arent anything special, and people that refer to nitrous as NAWS get the n00b title from me. The intercooler is fine until you upgrade the turbo. Get an intake, aka open element air filter, a 3" exhaust, turbo back... Boost gauge and a boost controller. If you want more after that, then post or search. Your goin to need a fuel pump at the very least in that area.

The GSX is a lot of fun to drive. If you wind up getting one, I'd definitely look at the exhaust and intake first. Then you might look at the intercooler, they aren't exactly up to the performance that the stock turbo can put out.

I don't know if you have found another DSM or if you have started to mod your GS-T, but in short, take a look on some of the DSM specific sites and use their advice as a good starting point.
But before you go just buying parts, decide on what your goals are. For example: do you want a stock-like car with just a little more horsepower? If so, just follow the free mod advice, and you will be fine. If you are looking for a more serious street car or a drag car then tak a little time and see what components (or stages) you need to change to get to that HP level.
But in short here is the typical path:
1. Do the free mods.
2. Get yourself a real boost gauge, air fuel ratio gauge (whether it be the blinky light one or a digital read out style) and finally, an EGT gauge.
3. Intake. do the K&N intake for the 2G.
4. Do the exhaust. Turbo cars respond very well to a free flowing exhaust. (Try not to settle for a cat back system.) Do the whole thing because the cat is usually the biggest bottleneck in the system. Go 3" all the way. You can get a good system done locally as opposed to paying premium $$ for a stainless steel "bling" system off the net that no one will ever see other than the tail pipe. (I used Buds Muffler in Denver. great prices good work.)
5. From there you can only get better. but this is the point where you need to decide where you wanna go with your car. Generally this is where you would upgrade the turbo, a very popular setup right now is the very streetable EVOIII 16G turbo they run just under 600 bux and properly tuned with the right supporting mods will net about 300-320 hp at the wheels.
But when you get here you need upgraded fuel system, upgraded intercooler, a decent datalogger. (Preferably DSMLINK or and AEM)
Hope that helps your cause.
