WRX Wagon vs sc 350z

My buddy has a Supercharged 350z (the one that boulder nissan built) WE finally go a chance to actually run from a dig.... I pulled him in first pretty good..same in second then third he pulled back up to me (freekin wrx's 3rd sucks ass, all cars catch me in 3rd) and at about 130ish he was about a car ahead of me...but from 100+ neither car was pulling on the other...His mods are cams, procharger on 10psi (the belt is slipping at like 5800 so then he had 8psi from 5800 to redline) full suspension, etc.

2004 wrx wagon...mods- sti ic, hks bov, 3in stainless turbo back exhaust, solid engine mounts, rear sway bar, and...well thats it. Gunna install the duel stage turbo xs bc, but for now im stock boost

I thought the same thing..but hasnt happend...we've run about 10 times...only once from a dig...stibungy what mods do you have....i ran a sti the other say that had fmic 3in turbo back with stock muffler and i think thats it...we were pretty close he pulled me up to but i was suprised how close i actually was.

I wanna run against your friend's 350z with my non-fi'd 350z. But overall I'd like to check out his setup 'n your's to see what can keep up with a 10psi'd ATI Z. The ATI's put ~430rwhp at 9pounds, much less 10psi. He must be around 440+ wheel. If not, he's got some major issues or he's pulling more timing than he can shake a stick at, or the belt is slipping and he's getting no boost. I have a hard time beliving a stock boost WRX can keep up with a 10psi ATI Z, even if it's a centrifugal SC @ altitude. I call BS till I race you/him ;) He should of blew you out of the water badly.

Interesting, I can pull a stock STi. But I can't play no where near modifed one's. Ahem STIBungy/RabidSTI haha and I'm NA. That's why I'm curious if his 7-8psi is really vacuum rather than boost. Not trying to disregard your achievement, just having a hard time comprehending it :) . You should redo your runs once he's got it fixed, and I'd like to tag along if that's alright to be an independant 3rd party ;)

Granted the ATI doesnt have the power band of a Greddy/PE/APS setup, but it should of been too much for a stock wrx w/ exhaust & IC. If you can really embarass him like that, props :cool: . I would love an AWD that was that fast :)

You can come...we race all the time...and its not vacuum its boost...it hits 10 then about 5800 the belt startes to scream...then the boost drops to around 8...its being fixed today so when its dry we are gunna go for it again...ill be sure and video take it...just incase you dont get to come...

motor to motor he pulls me but the gearing in my car is sooo long that when he is shifting im in my powerband...same when i raced the sti....austin told me that stibungy's car pulls pretty freekin hard so im sure i will get owned but im still down to try

I have a turboback, lightened crank pulley, k&n stock replacement filter and a boost controller at 17-18psi.

What mods do you have...are you still in the 15's like your profile said???somewhere in the 14's now. I will be even quicker in a week or so when I install all of my new ic piping and switch from mbc to new ecu. I raced a wrx sedan the other night with a bigger turbo and some other mods. he was able to slowly pull away from me at 90 or so. we raced from around a 10-20mph roll. he said he runs 13's at bandimere. so if you dont have a bigger turbo it might be a good run.

I have seen the z, it IS supercharged, hood and all. Bj is not one to lie about beating him but I also have a qualm with how well that car is running. I have ridden in a z06, thats 405 crank HP. I have ridden on bj's car also and it doesnt pull that hard. Now if that Z really did dyno 430, something isnt right..

He can be seeing all the boost he wants, but it aint shit if hes knocking and the ECU is pulling timeing, ask me, i know, i ran a 17.6 at 24 pounds haha, but only 10 degrees of timing...

The ATI doesn't need a cowl hood as it's a C-2 sitting right by the intake duct on the right depressed into the engine bay near the front drivers side light. Only way you'd need a cowl hood is if you were running a Stillen charger. Less your talking about a vented hood or he has it for show Austin :cool: There's a guy in Fort Collins who has his lemans sunset Z with the ATI Procharger as well @ 9psi (installed at PFI) and put down 430 rwhp last time I talked to him, but havent heard from him in about 4 months. Who knows he might of popped his motor as he was using only ATI fuel management system which pulls no timing, which is an extremely bad idea at that boost level, but that was SAE, he was only seeing ~7psi relative.

Even if that guy had belt slip and was only hitting 8 psi, that's still a SHIT LOAD of power for the Z. Something has to be inherently wrong with the dudes setup.

Now if it was a Stillen supercharger @ stock boost and not stage 2/3, they only put out around 280 rwhp. Would still be too quick for a stock WRX even at altitude. Hell I'd run BoostedWagon with my N/A Z that's running like a pig cause of altitude and bet that I'd be able to take him.

I dont know these guys so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I have to raise the BS flag on this one just cause thefun runs I've done with Harold in the past. Less that Z must be sucken major ass and is about to push a rod thru the block or shatter a piston.

I'd definately like to see this Z and pop the hood to see what this guy is really running.

It IS supercharged. It's boulder Nissans old Z I'm kinda pist the old man paid less then I did for my brand new Z.... I personally don't think that the driver is driving it all that well or its tuned to shit... I was going to race him tonight but I could only wait so long before getting some... so i left.

As for it putting down that much power.... Well I think Boulder Nissan might have overstated there claims by um a lot.

There is only 1 sc 350z in longmont and it is a procharger...it pulled high 13 when boulder nissan had it...430whp is a bullshit #...unless there is lots of work this is a stock 240hp motor with a charger on 10lbs....430whp...hmmm seems like a crazy difference...id say maybe 330whp...they ran it a couple of times...same result
