i'm a travel-thread whore of the day ;)
anyway, me and a couple of people here at work were throwing ideas where to escape for a few days, and we thought of Alaska. what would you guys recommend to see, where to go, which city i mean. and when to go, like what time of year. Ryan, you used to live there, right?
well, any ideas are welcome!
and no, i don't suggest driving there :D
Just watch the episode of Insomniac with Dave Attel where he went to Alaska, that's what I do whenever I want to go somewhere. lol

never heard of it, sorry. :) is it available to rent in blockbuster or something?
It's on Comedy Central late at night. It's a guy who sleeps during the day and stays up all night. So he just goes to each state and stays up all night and finds things to do at those hours. He's a comedian by the way, so it's a pretty funny show.

Go during the summer between May and August. Do you like to fish? Go sightseeing? Boat rides? What do you want to do?

i like deep-sea fishing (boat fishing). i also wouldn't mind visiting some old-time gold-rush towns on Yukon (sp?). and otherwise i don't really know what i'd do there :)

i don't think radioactive fish can be caught in Alaska!
and yeah, I realise i might mark this place as a no-return one, but I am still curious to go. something tells me i might actually like it there ;)

I've never heard that shit and I've lived there for 23 years of my life. You're on the wrong side of the world noob.
ANYWAYS go to the Kenai river for fishing, HUGE King Salmon can be caught there, you can also catch charter boats out of Homer, Kenai, Seward, wherever and they'll take you out and get you some big ass halibut.

I guess I should have clarified... most of us would say a car is "broken" if it has a cloud of white smoke coming out the exhaust... do DSM owners refer to that as "oil injection"?

One sight to look for would be Ryanman's mustang. You'll spot it just like you'd spot a yeti.

the major radioactive impact was actually mostly felt in Byelorussia. It's where the nuclear waste cloud has drifted to. most of Ukraine is actually safe. Chernobyl is in Ukraine. Leo, i don't remember what's the name of your hometown?
(guess i'm jacking my own thread now ;) )
