92 integra GS, bought as a project car. cranks, but doesnt start. Checked for spark, no spark. replaced the coil. Spark! But still not start. There is no fuel pump priming 'whir' when i turn the key to the 'on' position. Im not sure if there is supposed to be though. First thing in the morning i will check for blown fuses. Does anyone know for sure though if the obd1 da's fuel pump primed upon turning the key to the 'on' position though? TIA

Yes, it is supposed to prime for 2 seconds whent he key is turned on. Check to see that the main relay is working. That is the most common failure of those fuel systems.

What sort of test could i do the main relay to check if its still good? ( i left my fucking helms at a buddies house.)

I just resoldered the one off my little brother's, I mean my car, and drove it down from Seattle.

ok assholes, the main relay is still good. i guess this only leaves the fuel pump to blame. Can i just pull the connector that goes to the fuel pump, turn the key to the 'on' position and check for voltage there?

oh, and if the main relay is clicking does this mean its 100% good or could it still be bad?
Steve, I did replace the pump in my car. You have to drop the tank. It's not too bad, but I wouldn't really want to do it again.

The main relay problem is intermittent. The problem is more evident when the relay is warm or during a hot day.
The sure thing to do would be to pull it out and resolder the contacts.

The main relay can still be bad if it clicks. And yes you can check the fuel pump for voltage at the connector. Duh.

UPDATE
ok so i got to the fuel pump connector and tested it. Its getting around 5V. When i switch the key to the "on" position however, where it should normally start priming, the relay clicks and the voltage drops to under 1V and stays there but the fuel pump never primes. Why is voltage dropping so low even if the fuel pump is not priming?

lol. Fuel pumps run on 12V silly, not 5 and not 1. YOU NEED A FUEL PUMP RELAY!!!! Just put one in god damnit.
