I'll get some pictures when I get the chance, but until then, everyone can try to guess what they are. I'll give you a hint. Sand. ;)

Okay, here is the cage right now, I took some pictures of the actual animals, but I want to see if anyone can guess before that. There are some pretty good clues in here if you know what to look for.

They are in the cage in those pictures, you just can't see them. Since Weston is the only one on right now. I'll wait till tomorrow to post the pictures of them. Their names are Jafar and Jasmine. :)

actually, these would be either lizards, or snakes. i'm pretty sure they're lizards, cause snakes wouldn't just hide in the sand. but trails in the sand are more like of snakes, cause lizards would have their legs printed in the sand....

This is the female, she is a little bit smaller than the male. The last one is pretty blurry, but it's her head peeking out of the sand.

They are sand boas, pretty fucking cool if you ask me. Jasmine is a black albino (black and white) and the name of her color is Anerytheristic. Jaffar is just the normal Orange and brown color. I'll get pictures of him later. I've been bugging them all night. They make cool tracks huh?

Awesome, never heard of them but awesome!

In the first set of pictures, the one from the side, she was right up almost against the glass right at the top of the sand. That would be in the bottom left of the picture. That track is from her burrowing under the sand. They burrow pretty quick when they want to.

My roommate Will is a geophysist, and he's thinking about how he can use some of the tools they use to look into the ground, to look into the cage to find the snakes. Obviously this would be on a much smaller scale. It'd just be great for him to use his skills to impress his teachers and future employers, and it might make it easier for me to find them. Right now you just stick your finger in the sand until you find one and pull it out. It's kind of scary the first few times. :)

Here's what the male looks like. This is apparently the standard color.

Well, I wasn't planning on another snake, because it'd be more of the same thing. I wanted an arboreal (climbing) snake. The snake guys told me that they'd be mostly unhandleable when I went in there tonight (Reptilian Haven on 44th and Harlen). I've been in there many times before because they have such awesome things. Tonight for instance they had an Albino Burmese Python (very cool snakes if you've never seen one in person) that was easily one of the biggest I've seen in person; his body was easily as big around as my thigh, and he was at least ten feet long. I'd say that he weighed an easy 150 lbs, in other words, he was plenty big enough to kill a person. Anyway, usually every time I see a snake that big, they are just laying there and not moving at all. Not this one, it was lifting itself up to the top of the cage and moving all over. It was a little unsettling. They have all kinds of cool animals there, like baby Miniture Camen and stuff like that.

Stu how big will they get when they reach adult age?

stu

The female could get around 28-32 inches long and the male 16-24 inches, something like that. That is much shorter than my last snake, but they will be much thicker.

Cool snake, now we can an all come over and watch it crawl around instead of swap a motor :(
