Like over a week ago. Anyway, help me select a new pet. It has to be something goes in a cage and doesn't have fur. I thought of a tarantula, but those can get out, so a Scorpion would be better. For the record, I think an Iguana is way to much work and effort, but I've been considering one anyway, but that's as high of maintenence as I want to go. And........GO.

How long did you have your snake and did it die because of neglect? How about getting some hermit crabs or turtles? It's always cool to watch the turtles eat feeder goldfish.

Turtles rule! or you can go with small frogs.

He might have, I'm not sure. There were a combination of things that I had suspected at the time. I had just fed him though. Oh yeah, I had him for about four years before he died. Fucker.

Hmmmm, I haven't thought about a frog yet. I think I'd need a new cage though, mine wouldn't hold water, and I don't feel like buying another one. If I do, I kind of want a tall one so I can get a more arboreal snake.

My brothers scorpion is crazy.

He lives in a big 10 gallon tank with sand and a skull. During the first day they had him he didn't do shit, just sat there. They went to bed, turned off the lights and all you could hear was all of this commotion in the cage. When they woke up in the morning he had buried the skull halfway underneath the sand and had built a small cave out of it with the only entrance being the mouth. It's pretty insane. :)

Arowana's are the pimpest fresh water fish you can get. They only chill at the top tho. There was this huge one at The fresh fish company in denver. (They have huge tanks there) And it was like 1 grand. Pretty impressive. I love those fish. Oh, BTW not to eat. Heh.

I'd rather apply the $1k to putting a pond in my back yard with some koi. (sp?)

i'd say get a bird, but i know that in Colorado you can't really keep wild birds. i used to keep them, they're really fun to watch, and if they're singing - that's cool too.

otherwise, i suppose you don't want a traditional pet. then get a rat ;) ok, j/k, but you could really get a mouse. pet mice were a huge hit sometime back in Moscow

another thing - get a bushbaby. it's a type of lemur. it's a very fun thing to have, low maintenance, quiet, yet entertaining. at least check them out somewhere.

it's all in how you raise it. my cousin bought his for 13 bucks, it was barely 4-5 inches, some of his gold fish was bigger then his arowana. but over the coarse of 2-3 years, it grew to over a foot and a half. it started go crazy, cause i guess it ate all the other fishes in the tank, or i tore everything up in the tank, so it was barren. that, or i guess the 80 gallon tank wasn't big enough for it. need less to say, that after the fish kept on ramming the top of the tank, my cousin sold it for 250-300 bucks

Guinea pigs are fun pets, if there's a possibility for a furry pet.

Whatever you do, dont get a bird.
I had a girlfriend who had a bird, never date girls with birds.

arowana's get really big and need lots of room. plus they can jump pretty high too.

My friend was telling me about his friend's tank that has a crawfish and a freshwater crab in it. I guess they are very entertaining to watch.

you can't build a trend based on a single case
anyway, he can't get a bird, it's a gainst the law.

p.s. never date a girl with a dog! :D

What the hell are you talking about? You can have birds. I know several people that have birds. And they sell them in pet stores. WTF?

i was talking about wild birds. like goldfinches, finches, i'm thinking nightingales too. you can't catch them and you can't buy them. you can only attract them into your back yard, but you can't keep them in a cage. that's what i was told at a pet store, actually

yeah, you can get parrots allright, and maybe canaries, but to me personally they're not alot of fun.
