I am looking to get some small priced tools for my garage this Xmas... nothing big, but something so I can work more on the car at my house. I was thinking about getting a tap/die kit for metric, a "10 pc. Damaged Bolt/Nut Remover Set, Low Profile Bolt-Out", Socket Organizers, etc.

Just looking for small things that I prolly wouldn't buy myself... so anyone have any recommendations on those small 'tools you wouldn't live with out'... post it here. :)

I don't know where I would be without my tap/die and socket organizers. Digging through a pile of those to find the right size sucks ass.

Ooooh, socket organizers. Ok, so I am having a brain fart... what exactly will a tap/die set do? Give me a 'situation' where you'd use it...

Like if you were to strip a bolt and cut the head off, you would drill a hole in the remains of the old bolt, just smaller than the threading for the your bolt. Then you would tap through that shit and make a new thread....I think

I always get my tool names confused.

A tap & die is used for threads and bolts... one repairs or creates threads in a hole, the other does it to bolts. Very helpful for repairing damage and cleaning crap out.

Ah ok... that prolly would be useful to have.

Ratching wrenches I would LOVE.. but they are like $25 a freakin piece. :Peace:

Sears sometimes runs deals on them, especially if you have a Craftsman Club card. It's still expensive though.

Hrmm, ok.

BTW, anyone know where to buy a straight pipe that I can use for a cheater/breaker bar? Needs to be like 1" diameter, and perhaps 12-18" long. Sears/Home Depot/Ace have it?

Ouch. Good thing my bro works at Ace. I get those for more than half off. Employee discount owns.

I'm hoping for a set of ratcheting box wrenches this year...Those are my favorite tools since I got them last year. This year I told my wife I want the flex-head set:
