That is a 98.00 front bra,. although I have a clear bra, when I drove to Oregon I wanted a little extra protection from the semi's throwing gravel etc... over the mountain passes. I purchased this from a 350z website and I must say, it saved this car. I was caught in that unexpected snow storm thanks giving weekend.

So the car is completly un drivable at this point its around 7PM, so guess what,... I called Nissan and told them I was stuck on a mountian in a snow storm in a 350Z and asked them to help me out, no motels nothing.. 2 degrees out freezing ass cold, just spent my last 340.00 on rear tires in the city below the mountan.

<nissan>:)is the car broke?
<cleaner></cleaner></nissan>:C<nissan><cleaner>Um.. let me look....

<cleaner></cleaner></cleaner></nissan>:C<nissan><cleaner><cleaner>The car has 5 inches of ice on it, and If I try to drive it it will be broke.

-=[Juztin]=-
12-17-2004, 02:17 PM
LOL, nice man. I was drivig around with Ice frozen in my inner wheel wells thick enough to give the tires only about a 1/2" of travel so every bump i hit it would bang. Poor car, mine loves the snow... or atleast it has to because I dont got any other car to drive :(

Th3Cleaner
12-17-2004, 02:31 PM
I was only wishing I had drove the Jeep at that point :P

Changing brake pads is incredibly simple. You and Ashton are such newbs... Here's how you do it:

1) Remove wheel
2) Remove caliper's lower slide pin bolt and swing the caliper up
3) Remove old brake pads, install new pads
4) Compress caliper to make it clear the new pads
5) Swing caliper back down, and install lower slide pin bolt
6) Install wheel

Do it a few times and you can change out the front in 15 minutes, most of which will be spent on steps 1 and 6.

Okay, what about resurfacing the rotors? What is a good way to measure when a resurfacing is a good option?

Weston
12-18-2004, 01:04 AM
If you have to pull the rotor off, then you just have to take the whole caliper & bracket off rather than just swinging it open to get to the pads. I have never had any of my rotors turned, but that's mostly because I have pads that do that for me. I'd say you should do something about the rotors if it vibrates or shakes when you brake (ie "warping"), or if the surface has grooves going around it or a glossy appearance.

STIBungy
12-18-2004, 08:55 AM
Luckily for Weston and other Honda owners, rotors are pretty cheap at Vatozone.

-=[Juztin]=-
12-18-2004, 09:33 AM
Yeah, after a sub 5 bills brake job, I'd be more inclined to try and save money and learn to do it myself. I wanna go with some Hawk dustless pads

Technically, if you are changing the pads, you should turn the rotors, but it wont be a problem if you just wear in the pads really fast.

-=[Juztin]=-
12-18-2004, 11:09 AM
Well I can get to a shop that charges 5 bucks a rotor to machine them. Only problem is getting there with the wheels off my car :)

brake amateurs ;)
ask me when you need to change a rotor! give me 5 minutes, and you can change a rotor after that!

Th3Cleaner

I took the front rotors off had them turned, now the front left goes click click click when I step on brakes... seems like it is warped bad.

the brake job was pretty easy though total cost for all 4, 105.00 for pads and 9.00 each for front rotors turned. Now I need to get new rotor :\

oh well

I would think about replacing both fronts if I could find a good deal on slotted rotors with the stock application and NOT the Brembo.

Does your steering wheel shake when you get on the brakes?

:werd:
I dont think Brake components can click, only ear piercing squeels.
It may be something else.

Th3Cleaner

no the wheel doesnt shake, but you can feel the click in it, it only click when braking normal, step on it and it goes away..

what do ya think?

Clicking can happen if there's something on the rotor (or another rotating part) that causes a noise every revolution or so. If it's entirely in the pads or caliper, then it's most likely going to be constant (or close to it) and you'll get the horrible grinding/squeeling noises.

Th3Cleaner
12-20-2004, 01:32 PM
just clicking, no squeeling. drives normal sounds fine, step on brake and it sounds like click, click clcik every revolution, the faster your going the faster the clicks.

Sounds like somthing on the rotor or on the pads, not sure what else it could be sence I only took off the rotor and calipers.....

I had a similar click when they did the brake pads on my car at the dealership. It clicked when I was just driving it, and it the clicking speed was fully dependant on how fast I was going. I could feel the "clicking" in the parking brake handle as well when I was driving. My clicking was coming from the rear of the car when in the cabin. You should try and jack up the car and rotate the tires and see if you can hear it. It turned out to be a part of the parking brake system that had simply "fallen" loose and was just being jarred around. Apparently the tech didnt hold in a special stopper when they were doing the pads, and the part just fell out once the hand brake was used. I can't be more specific cause I didn't actually see the part that it was.
