In my 01 GS-R, Compression is 180 flat across the board. When i start it up, however, there's a rough idle, and i can feel it missing. Pulled the exhaust manifold off, and noticed there's oil comming out of number 2. where the hell could that be coming from? I noticed there's a TON of oil, like a friggin lake, inside my exhaust housing too.

Bad valve seal, toasted ring, cracked piston. Could be any one of these things.

wouldn't those give me lower compression numbers, though? I'm still getting 180 across the board....I suspect it's something in my head. How difficult is it to change valve seals? Flatirons acura "fixed" my head, and it never ran since.

I would take it back to them then. Compression checks really wont tell you much other than the condition of the combustion chamber. If the rings are soaked with oil they can still read good even if they are bad. Leakdown test will tell you more because it it simulates a pressure load on all the parts.

cool, that's probably what i'll do. It just sucks ass to have to tow it all the way up there every time they supposedly fix something. Bastards. If I could find the source of the damage, parts would probably be cheaper than the towing/hookup fees. oh well, tis my luck with this build.
