I think a shipping company would be more qualified to answer your question.

i have done that...they said $900 dollars for a 30lb box....that is BS...oh and what is a good guess on a box with recaro seats, steering wheel, guages(3), cluster, and harnesses? 25lb-30lb

size is also a factor, not just weight. ;)

I wonder if shipping your self to japan in a crate big enough for you and a lazy-boy recliner would cost more than an airline ticket

Unless the seats are sub 10 pounds each (very doubtful), you're way off.

Just about the lightest seats on the marketare going to weigh in at 15 or 20 pounds, a steering wheel could be 3-5, and then you also have to account for shipping material and all that, and engine harnesses are pretty weighty, could be 10 pounds on the high side. Either way, though, $900 is outrageous, expect to pay 1/10th that if you go through a realistic shipping company.

I've shipped some stuff internationally, and size is more important than weight. Large and/or irregularly shaped packages are really expensive.

just depends on how fast you need your things. i tried to send a metal optimus prime, still new in the box back to hong kong and they wanted 85 bucks for a box that weighed less then 8 pounds. that was via air and i'll get there in 7-10 business days. or i can send it via boat and it was 25 bucks, but it'll take a month to a month and a half
