*x-posted*
I'd like to try to get a mass HAI/CORacing/CoRN/ meet together for December 4th, which, as of right now, is the last Saturday EVER that Second Creek will be open. Sort of a going-away party for SCR.
Second Creek is at:
17010 E. 88th Ave. Commerce City, CO 80022
(88th and Buckley up near DIA)
Holla back if you're in.

the 4th is which day? this saturday? If I dont have to work, I might be out there just to hang out and shoot the shit, theres goin to be a pretty big meet that night also. How much is it to race? I might bring the R1 out... its goin to take me like 10 laps to get the tires warm though considering its 15 fuckin degrees out right now

How much does it cost?
Weston-work
11-30-2004, 12:25 PM
If it's a regular Test & Tune, it's $60 for a half-day (which is a lot of time), but it may cost another $5 if you aren't a member of a CMC club (they rarely enforce this). You'll need your own helmet; a motorcycle helmet or better will do.
I would expect it to be crowded. I might come hang out and shoot some video if you guys are going to be there, but I probably wont be driving on the track since I still have a few parts to replace after my last race weekend out there...

BTW: If you can get 5 people together, you can buy a 5 use "lapper card" for $240, which works out to $48 each.

For those of you who are going to drive on the track, remember to have your brakes in good shape with fresh DOT4+ fluid (Valvolene SynPower is cheap, easy to find, and works well). Most brake pads will not last long, so make sure you have plenty of pad material to work with, and exit the track and drive around in the paddock area to cool things off when the braking performance becomes less than desireable. The cool weather will help, but it is still quite possible to overheat your brakes on this course, especially if you have pads that aren't really suitable for track use.

Weston-work
12-01-2004, 11:56 AM
Maybe... I'm somewhat tempted to take the Integra out on the course, since I should get my new shocks on Friday, but it's not really ready because there are still other issues that I should take care of... I didn't really do anything about the clutch problem yet, and my front caliper piston seals are a bit melted from running race brakes this season. I've made several significant improvements to the car recently, so I'm anxious to take it out there and see what I can get it to do, but I really need more time. I suppose I'll take a look at things, put it all back together, and see how the clutch feels...
But if HAI people are going to drive, I'll show up to hang out at least...

I'll go park like 3 cars for us at the rec center since it's a whole 5 min away from my house. This way we'll have the whole lot taken and the opposition will go to Wal Mart and get porta vacs to get the sand out of their itchy vaginas.

It's pretty pathetic when some asshat developer can come in and buy all the land around there and manipulate the government into forcing them out... SCR has been there since long before anyone even thought of building any houses out anywhere near there. I suppose the airport is next...

I think as along as we are respectful we will be fine to go. We will have to show them though that not everyone that drives a import is a trouble maker. If we go and are disrespectful then yea we are just going to create a lot of problems for ourselves. It is a public meeting and the last thing that they think is there is going to be people showing up to show support for scr staying open. I think that it would be funny though if we all show up and then they ask how did you all hear about the meeting and then we tell them that a resident of the area posted up their letter on a bunch of car internet sites. (by the way I am subbysti from clubwrx) There are no signs posted up letting people know of the public meeting (I drive by there every day to get to work) So that was there game plain we will send letters out to everyone and hopefully they would get enough support. Well they put the letter on the wrong door this time.

I was just up there today and for the most part the track was dry. (I didn't run my car) The only wet part was in front of the stands, so the drivers had to slow down early in the long straight. I wouldn't get there early, today they didn't let drivers on until about noon. They had to let the track warm up enough to get rid of the ice. (what I was told)
It is free to watch and you will have a blast if you can get someone to take you around the track.

I am not sure if I am even going. And there is no way I driving on my blizzaks. A day at the track with those and say goodbye.
Are people going straight from second creek to the meet (ie chipotle)? Since it is kinda on the way (to the meet) I may show up to the track if people will be there that long.

I might show up depending on how much work on the car I get done. I definitely cant race the STI until I get new endlinks.
Weston-work
12-03-2004, 04:48 PM
Eh, it's not racing... it's just a Test & Tune, which is really just a "go out and have fun day" for most people. Don't worry so much about having everything perfect; just cover the basics: fresh brake fluid, plenty of brake pad left, no leaks, and nothing that's going to come apart on you or suddenly fail while you're on the track. If I'm able to go tomorrow, it'll be for the purpose of testing & tuning, but I still wont have the car prepared as much as I do for an actual race.

Black EP3 right? I was out there briefly, but I killed my EBC greenstuffs pretty quickly. I think I had 1/3 to 1/2 left on them and that lasted about 15 laps. I had the only SAAB there, I'm sure you saw it.
I also had a little battery incident that myshtern got to experience. The heat sheild that keeps the turbo from melting the battery got hot enough to melt through one of the positive cables. A sparky repair experience ensued, but with the help of John (who drives the SR20 S13) and someone else's 10mm wrench she was roadworthy again. I am happy with the handling balance, but more body control would be helpful. Better seats are a must, and a brake system revamp is at the top of the list. A working turbo would be nice, but I can get by for now with Old Smokey.
Overall it was really fun. Homie (white_n_slow) with a stopwatch got me around 1.30. Turbo lag > me. Thanks TEC. Thanks a lot for doing crappy work and not standing behind it. My brakes died and I had to leave. Now I'm extra pissed that this is the end of Second Creek. Hopefully a worthy replacement pops up soon.
Fun stuff.

The decision came in and they granted both Rocky mountain speedway and scr a year extension under certain conditions: First this will be the last extension and they can not apply for another, the track's can only be open from 8 to 8 or til dusk whichever comes first. All the other conditions are based for RMNS. They were saying that Rocky Mountains hearing did not get over until VERY late that it was 10 or 11 I dont remember what they said. So by the time that is was scr all the opsition had went home and the vote happened around 1:30 am to let them have one more year.
