Friend's motor with a JDM b16a is having a ticking sound coming from the valve cover... I assume it's the valves. Is it safe to say that a valve adjustment would fix this? Is this anything to be concerned about?
And his SRS light is on as well, and was wondering if this is a problematic issue with 92-95 Civic's... is there a onboard diagnostic for these systems?

That or something isnt quite fitting around the valve seats
I know SRS is an airbag dealio, but dont know what the acronym stands for.
My google search revealed that it stands for Sex Reassignment Surgery

^^^ Retard.
Try valve adjustment. Most of the time it will cure ticking unless a valve or 2 is bent.
As for the SRS, connect the service connector, put key into the ignition and count the number of blinks on the ABS light.
Scroll down some for the ABS trouble codes:

My B16 did that once, setting the valve clearances fixed it. I'd definitely try it, it's easy to do in the driveway and doesn't take long. Have you done the clearances on a B16 before?

No sir, I've never done a valve adjustment before... more or less on a b16a.

It's easy when you have the right tools.

Just make sure you have the long feeler guages with the angled tips because you have to reach down into the head to get at the gap (see picture for the guages). I tried it with my short flat feeler guages and couldn't get it right. Snap-On makes a nice adjuster tool for it, but I made do with a thin screwdriver and a deep well socket held with vice-grips.

Awesome, that helps a lot. Thanks. :)

SRS is in no way related to ABS.
SRS = Supplemental Restraint System A.K.A. Airbags
If your SRS light is on it means there's a problem with your Airbag system. Could just be a faulty ground.

A little easier way is to just measure the clearance between the cam lobe and the lifter then you don't need the super long feeler gauges.
