Finally fired it up after getting the head back on it and it wouldn't start. Cranked it a while, nothing. Checked cam position, compression, leakdown, spark, fuel pressure, all good. Not much fuel smell when I pull the plugs after I've been cranking it though, so I dump a tablespoon of gas into the TB. It starts, idles weakly for a bit, dies, won't start again. A couple tablespoons of gas into the TB later, the idle picks up to normal and it keeps running, warms up to operating temp, revs up fine, fuel pressure is regulating correctly, and it will start if I shut it off and crank it again.

What happened? The only thing I can think of is the fuel filter, which is about a year or so old, and I'll replace it tomorrow, but anyone have any idea why I had to prime it like that? Hope it doesn't do it every time it gets cold. I'm supposed to be running it at Rockingham tomorrow and that would be a PITA if I had to get out and splash gas into the TB from time to time.

On the same subject, looking at the oil leaking down my purty silver (they painted it, the bastards, forgot to tell them I like my cars ugly) cylinder head, I'm thinking some gray permatex would have been the thing to put between the end cam caps (the ones that house the seals) and the surface of the head.

Possibly air in the fuel lines? Highly doubt the dirty injectors. Honda fuel systems run quite clean.

On the older model Hondas, the end caps are quite crappy. The caps on my '00 GSR was designed much better. Certainly better designed than aftermarket end caps like STR. That was just fancy billet aluminum with a rubber oring. :D

Got it fixed, turns out some retard swapped the coolant sensor and VTEC plugs, damn Honda putting identical plugs right next to each other. Works good now. Time to get three hours of sleep and get up and drive it to Rockingham and see if I can break it again.
