Hey I was wondering if anyone here knows how difficult it is to replace a radiator in a Passat. I'm asking for a friend here at work...he wants to take it in to the dealership and I'm trying to get him to save some money since he's lower ranking in the Army and I'll help him but I've never done a radiator in a VW before. I've tried to get into the VW message boards but they're all blocked. Thanks for any help!!

Thanks Simon! Tobi, I don't think he can drive it that far...it has a sizable hole in the rad. so it's probably something that'd have to be done in the dorm parking lot. I asked him if he'd wanna tow it up to you but he'd rather just take it to the dealer if it has to be towed. Eh...Maybe I'll just take a look at it sometime this weekend and see if it's something I want to take on. Thanks for the offer!

passats are kind of goofy even for VW standards. just to get to the air filters requires removing two covers and being a contortionist to get the clips. I have never looked at the radiator, but it I'm sure you woulod have to remove some covers and brackets and stuff. Not really hard, just time consuming.
