Looking for any general honda steering rack and pinion knowlege, specifically in reference to a 4th gen Lude.

Front end wobbles and it is not tie rods or wheel bearings or warped rotors.
I am 99% sure now that it is in the rack itself, and I do not have the option of switching to a 2ws or non-power unit because I want to retain the 4WS.

I have been running without a power steering belt for 6 thousand miles now, and was going to remove the ps lines, pump,etc... but the 4WS speed sensor is driven by fluid and I just didn't feel like dealing with it yet.

So I ask you all for a little guidence: Rebuild or go used and hope its not as abused as mine?

When I DO drop this rack to replace or rebuild, any ideas on whether its a sound idea to re-route the lines in order to extricate the ps crap without removing the speed sensor from the flow of fluid?

The latter question is probably best asked to some Lude folks(specifically the 4WS crowd) but it couldn't hurt to try here first.

Have you checked the ball joints? I have a bad upper ball joint on my 3rd gen Prelude and it causes the front end to be loose... so much that I can grab the tire and shake it back and fourth. I just ordered a new one for $29 from Checker.

In my case, I believe it went bad due to poor design of the upper control arm (load gets unevenly distributed)... I don't know if they fixed than for the 4th gens or not, but they seemed to know it was going to be a problem for the 3rd gens (they made it real simple to replace).

Yeah I read your post about it, can't remember off-hand what my previous 3rd gens upper ball was like, but the 93 is simple. Upper A arm has the ball joint pressed in and its just simpler to replace the whole A arm... its like a 1/2 hour per side to do.

Well, that went bad on the front pass a long time ago and it has since been replaced, I even have a couple spares cuz I know its gonna happen again. I drive her hard and the front pass has been the victim of typical Colorado roads more times than I care to think about... it makes me shudder and revel at same time. How my car has held up as well as it has is simply amazing to me.
I digress, my point is that each time I experience "weirdness" from my front end the front right is always suspect and I have checked and double checked it, even changed the tie rod end just to be sure, and it was starting to go. Now that the tie rod it 100% the symptoms point more towards the rack itself, specifically the pinion and rack at neutral plus and minus 10-15%.
