Are radar jammers illegal? (I'm assuming they are), if so what happens if you get caught with one?

They are illegal and you will be given a huge fine
Also, you may be liable for suits by radio stations

Radar jammers are illegal by FCC rules and can be considered interferring with a police officer. You will have a hard time finding a radar jammer that actually works, and they still run the risk of causing some crazy speed to display on the officer's radar unit. Laser jammers are not against FCC rules (they don't regulate optical transmissions), but it's still interferring with an officer, and the cops can detect if they are being jammed.

As for radio stations, that's not really much of an issue since they do not use the same frequencies as designated radar bands.

They don't work.

They don't work.

Depends on what you get. There are a few that actually do, but most are just junk. Anything made by "Rocky Mountain Radar" is crap... it's been proven to be nothing but a box of spare parts, which actually increases the range of police radar.

 It increases the range

Yup, nothing like a nice metal object to help reflect the radar back to the gun.

If you have an IROC Camaro and you polish it real nice and drive real fast, the radar detectors wont catch you

Laser jammers do, however. FCC has no laws against them.

radar jammers dont work.

Like I said, most don't but some do... There are a few that actually emit an active jamming signal that really screws with the radar gun, but they are hard to find and most don't cover all radar bands; they can cause false readings too. All of those passive jammers are total crap.
