Just trying to gain some info here. Apparently some guy on h-t had tuning issues for a week because of a colder thermostat (160*), fluidyne radiator, and Fal fan. I'm under the assumption that even in -10* weather, the car could never run too cold provided it has been given ample warm-up time, as the purpose of the thermostat is to open at a certain temperature, but the coolant temperature will certainly rise more than that set open temp. What's your take on it?

I'm running a colder thermostat and I have no problems in the cold weather. It will run cooler than stock if it has the airflow through the radiator to allow it, but it will maintain a certain level. When going slow or stopped, it will rise to the stock temperature. I can't imagine how you would have tuning issues with it unless you had the ECU doing something crazy at lower than stock coolant temp levels. If he's talking about having tuning issues on the dyno, it should run at about the stock temp and may even get heatsoaked.

Well there is good and bad with the t-stat. I dont have one at all but running the car on the dyno will still net higher temps than on the track or street no matter what t-stat you have. So if you have a cooler t-stat or none at all you need to make sure your dyno tune works at lower temps, I alwasy let my cars cool down and make a cold run to ensure the tune is still good. It usually gets a few more ponies too.

That's kinda what I thought. I'll be sure and call the guy a dumbass now :D Thanks!
