View Full Version : Radiator problems...again

Well as I am driving home I noticed a little bit of steam coming from my engine bay at stops, nothing serious (right :ring: )temp gauge was fine all the way home.

Got home noticed my reservior tank was very low and that coolant had gotten on the lower part of my bay. Now there is a loud hiss coming from the bottom passenger side. When I squeezed the lower coolant line the hissing got louder with each squeeze. I know this is kind of hard to diagnose over teh web but do you think it is just the lower coolant hose or the radiator gone bad?

Lemme know when you're free to look at it/fix it and how much (possibly from the described problem) it would cost me.

Radiator: stock to my knowledge with 187K

Sounds like a cracked lower tank or split hose. I can look at it tomorrow if you have time. Price depends on what brand radiator it is, there are two types. If its just a hose then it will be well under $100 but Id have to see it to be sure obviously.

That is understandable about the price and looking at it to make sure ;) . I have to work tonight and thursday night from 1800-0600, is friday morning a possibility :D ?

Yeah we can look at it on Friday. No promises on "gettin er done" though. Hah, had to do it man.

LOL ....ok, well I will drive my car to work thursday and come see you at 630am; I appreciate you "gettin errr dunn" that early and I also have another question.

If the easiest method of fixing this problem is to take off the bumper would it be possible to install my jdm foglights (entails cutting out the part below the bumper lights and screwing them in, I can do the wiring) figure it is easiest since the bumper may/may not be off already :D . Lemme know Ghandi :cheers:

I have a workout class at 6:30 on Friday morning. But I will be back at 7:30.
The bumper does not have to come off to do the radiator but we can take it off and
do whatever you need done.

Alright, so after looking at it again today it looks to be the lower radiator hose. I am going to look in my chiltons to see what the procedure is to replace it. I may or may not have you do this...I am just lazy sometimes :rofl: . I will let you know by tomorrow. Do you want me to post in this thread or give you a ring?

So should I go to a shop and get the radiator leak tested before I have you order a new one for me? Also I will look at the radiator again and see if it is a toyo or denso radiator, any way to tell?

I am thinking the radiator is the only thing left to leak ;UgH: . What is your suggestion on this Tobi?
